98 - Book of excuses
The book of excuses, what an idea. It struck me that
some riders
amongst us always have some excuse for their lowsy performance on
track. For some reason they are embarassed by it... I don't really
understand why, why make up an excuse? Is it your ego that crashed in
the process? Or is it that you're full of crap anyway?
Well I dunno, the only thing I know is that I'm
always quite mad at
myself for stacking up! Yes, I know it is only a game, but still the
bets are high! It's all or nothing for me realy. In dutch we'd like to
call that "Death or flowers" bit freely translated... So why do we
grown men put so much effort in this game. For that we've got to go
back to our childhood!
Birth is a little bit too far back in life, I'd say
we start around
puberty, 12 years of age. You start to get interest in girls, cars and
bikes, beer, clothing... It takes half an hour to create your hairdue
which will be blown away by the wind on you way to school anyway... But
that doesn't matter! You have proven to yourself you're a lean mean
whatever machine! During the week you're all busy with trying to be the
man at school, but once every fourthnight it's your weekend! MotoGP is
on tele!
Well this is where the problem starts, your life has
already gone
wrong, you're going to school every day of the week. In reality
something in your head tells you: "I shud be on a bike at some exotic
track every day of the week". Well That's why you watch the real men on
track 2000miles away on your couch with potatoe chips in ur lap and a
cold Coca Cola (yes, Cola, remember you are only 12) in your hand. You
get excited about 20 men racing on the most expensive and
technologically advanced bikes in the world and the only thing you can
do is watch them having fun. And you're not getting a single
piece of it.
We've tackled most of the problem now! The next
thing is how to asnwer
your urges of being as close to this world of fancy bikes and women.
Well this can't be too hard for any clear thinking mind. You study hard
at school and become an engineer in one of the teams! It's as simple as
that, or isn't it? The answer is NO! There is another way... but this
isn't the best way for your further life. I'll explain it. The next
best thing is to buy a game for instance GP500, and play this every
day, day in day out, the time you spend on this game has to come from
some place one way or another. So the best solution is to sacrifice the
time you'd normally spend on your homework.
Anyway I am gonna have to wrap it up! The time you
shud have spend on
you homework is wasted, you got low grades in school, and now you're
working as a cleaner at McDonalds... And all because you want to be a
Grand Prix Racer!
Let this be a lesson for all youngsters around here! |
