News 19/11/06  Round 17. Valencia : Ricardo Tormo

Seby ends the season with third MotoGP win in his career.

Seby clinched his second MotoGP win this year in today’s Gran Premio betandwin.com de la Comunitat Valencia, putting on an impressive performance to fend off the challenge of SkiDer and SFW.
Seby made a good start from pole-position to snatch the holeshot ahead of SkiDer, while Transalp slipped back to third. The Italian ended his campaign on another blow, his engine breaking out on lap three and could only manage to finish 16th after a visit to the pits.
At the front, Seby rode a flawless race despite SFW and SkiDer pushing hard on his tail, but never close enough to have a clear shot at the lead. SkiDer managed to beat SFW by the chequered flag to take second position. With this third place finish for SFW, he consolidated his second position in the Championship, finishing best runner-up behind SkiDer despite Seby winning the race and closing in to only 7 points in the Standings.
Aprilia’s MGR took fourth, crossing the line more than 7 seconds after Seby, followed by veterans Biggie and team-mate Vouks. JC took seventh on his comeback at Honda after poor results in the last two races, ahead of Jarvis_Co. Gaz&Slide and DanyB16 completed the final top 10.

Seby:
"Hehe feels good to win again, too bad it didn't happen in the same room with Skider and SFW. I had PC problems in my first race so I raced again later and did a good job too.
I'm not very happy because I wish I could have raced with the top guys but hey, shit happens...
My race was boring, good times until the end of the race when I made few little mistakes which cost me 1-2 seconds but per total it was okay.
I'm still sad about Estoril when I fell 2 times and lost any hope for 2nd place in the standings so I have to say congrats again to SFW (I'll eat u alive next year).
3rd spot in the standings is very good considering that at the start of the year I was hoping to get 4th.
2 wins and 9 podiums will motivate me next year to fight for the title right from the start, not from half way the season like this year."

SFW:
"Congratulation to Seby for this difficult win and Skider for a great battle and a good race.
Some say that Seby's win is lucky because he raced alone but when you think that Seby has been hosting all night long and finally when it was his turn to race he experienced computer problems, then it was dissapointment for not beeing able to race the finale against me, Skider and transalp and then 2-3 hours of stress to make the game work and finally when most of us would gave up Seby found some energy to do a winning race... all I can say to this is: You are the man!
I had a good race with Skider again, I got a good start and could control the race on the first few laps, but as the game has progressed my lap times dropped a bit and by 2-3 laps to go Skider overtook me and I've tried to fight back but after a few scary moments I've decided to take it easy ans secure my 2nd spot in the championchip.
Next thing I want to say thank you all for participating this year and I know it's sometimes hard to make free time to practice and be rdy for the next race but those magic moments like when you wait for the lights at the startgrid or sharing the cheers and dissapointmens right after the race in the lobby room are really priceless and deffinettly woth the effort.
Next year I hope to see all of you on the track and hopefully we would have some more top riders and maybe some new guys joining the podium (MGR, Vouks ?????).
Ofcourse this Championchip isn't only about the podium riders but usually the hardest fight and closest finishes are between 10th and 20th place. In fact no mather what level a rider is there are always similar strong riders to compete with.
btw Seby m8 plz don't cry next year after I've kicked you ass on the track."

Skider has finished the season with a total of 440 points, 83 points ahead of SFW and 90 in front of Seby.
Oasics Racing Team has beaten Lords Of Shadows by 33 points to take their first Team's Victory.
Suzuki has taken the Constructor's title thanks to 15 podiums from Skider, 83 points ahead of Yamaha.
Big congratulations and well done to MGR who has won 2 titles this year: Rookie of the Year and MotoGP Class B
MGR's team-mate, Vouks, is the MotoGP Class A winner, his best result was 2nd at wet PI.
DarkBringer has won the MotoGP Academy award, he and Wd did a very good job considering this is their first year in gp500.
Skider (5 poles) has won the Qualifying award by only +1.075 in front of Seby (4 poles) and +2.091 in front of SFW (7 poles). Also the Hot Lap Award goes to Skider (7 hot laps), second is SFW (4 hot laps) and Seby third (3 hot laps). And of course, Total Time Award goes also to Skider because he has 10 race victories, the distance between him and Seby: 42.696 seconds.
All time Statistics (3 years): Skider moved up to first with 14 wins, SFW second with 13 wins and Transalp is third with 5 wins.
All time Total Points (3 years): SFW is first and the only rider who braked the 1000 points barrier with a total of 1061 and 27 podiums from 47 races in which he raced.
Second is Seby with 890 points and 15 podiums from 50 races and third is Transalp with 849 points and 12 podiums from 50 races.

It has been a long season, it has been a tough season, though it has been a FUN season!
Stay tuned for the Winter Testing in January 2007.
