Round 1. Qatar
: Losail
Superb Guishermo takes maiden victory in Qatar after a thrilling battle
with Skider to the line.
Guishermo was the worthy victor of today's Commercialbank Grand Prix of
Qatar, taking his first ever win in MotoGP500online on his race debut.
Guishermo started from fourth on the grid, but set the tone for the
race when he pulled a cheeky manoeuvre on Skider at the end of lap one.
A three-rider pack then formated, with Guishermo, Skider and Seby
breaking away from the rest of the field. The difference between the
Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha bikes was illustrated perfectly during the
trio's duel, as Skider and Seby either made up ground or overtook
Guishermo before being caught on the straight courtesy of the rc212v's
monstrous power.
Skider attempted to take a more permanent lead on lap 6, and it seemed
that 'Skideros' was on course for the victory. However, Guishermo
showed his ever-growing maturity to bite straight back at his rival to
take victory by only a tenth of a second.
Third-placed Seby bowed out of the proceedings when he went wide on a
corner, not only leaving a two-rider battle for the win but also
allowing Vouks to provide a real podium threat.
Vouks
refusing to take things easy despite still being far from 100% fit,
crashed with 2 laps to go. He managed to finish in 7th after losing 10
seconds due to that mistake.
Biggie, Madok and Transalp rounded off the top six, with the latter
having dropped down the field courtesy of a bad start. Saber120 finished
eighth on his return to MotoGP, ahead of Kaiser7K and Dolz who
completed the top ten.
Title contender SFW had mechanical problems with his bike in qualifying
and had to throw in the towel early as he wasnt able to start the race.
Now he will be looking to smash every record at Jerez and take the
victory so he can get his title chances back.
Guishermo Hurricane Miu Racing
Team (winner, 16:53.195):
"I didn´t expect this result, I knew that I could finish close to the
top guys if I didn´t crash but after the race I felt like I could have
pushed a little bit harder, my first lap was a disaster and in practice
I had ridden a little bit faster...
I want to say that I wouldn´t have won if Skider hadn´t helped me with
my Internet problems (it took time that he could have used to
practice), I feel like I have robbed the victory from him... Thanks
also to my team mate and the person who gave me a place in the top team
of CEV when I was a newbie, thank you Madok. And thank you Yvos for
hosting me so quickly, a little bit later and I wouldn´t have raced.
I´m very happy, happier than when I won my first race in CEV, this
championship is actually really hard...
See you in Jerez!"
Skider Oasics
NoGrip Racing (2nd, 16:53.319):
"First of all I want to say I'm so sorry for SFW because he had
problems
with online racing and he couldnt race this time. It's always a
pleasure racing with u m8. Hope u can solve those problems and see u
next time on track.
Then its time to congratulate the winner, what a debut m8, u must be
very happy. And u didnt steal anything from me, u won by your own
merits. GG to Seby because we had a great race together and hope this
won't be the last and the most beautiful one we can see (and of course
fu hahaha).
Its awesome take a look on the results and see 60 riders, thanks to
everyone who raced. I'm also happy about this top5 spanish riders, I've
never seen anything like that.
I want to thank my team8s for their races, and encourage them because
we've got a nice performance to make! Good races and stay in front,
come on guys!"
Seby Lords Of
Shadow (3rd, 16:54.886):
"Hehe we finally have a new winner. Congratulations Guishermo, great
start of a season.
GG to Skider (fu) and to all the guys who raced. We have 3 new guys in
top20, its a good thing. 60 riders wow new record, I hope we'll have
this many each round.
I'm very happy with my podium, it's much better than my start race in
previous years (16th, 10th, 10th). I'm also very proud of my qualifying
time and i just made a ghost-lap of 1:50.371 which you can download
from the multimedia page.
I raced with Skider and we had a hard battle, we both lost some seconds
compared to practice races but thats racing. I had to risk it a bit by
choosing soft-medium tyres instaid of meds, I knew Skider was fast in
the last laps and I was hoping to escape from him at the start and
build a relaxing advantage but I made some mistakes and I could only
put 0.5 from him by mid-race, he eventually passed me and won the
battle.
Next time I'll race with meds and practice more for last laps.
Good start for Saber120 considering he didnt race in the last years.
Also GG Trans, its time we bring this team to the top of the standings.
Also GG to Vouks because he was maybe the fastest at Losail but he had
some problems and laps didnt count and he also fell in a race, thats
where he lost 10 seconds. I was expecting Biggie to be fast and gg but
Madok is a nice surprise, i hope you can keep it up m8.
I'm very sorry for SFW, he couldnt finish the race due to connection
problems. I can't wait for you to come back so we can carry out our
battle.
See you all in Jerez where I'll try to do even better."
Kaiser7K Nitram Racing (9th, 17:05.945):
"Congratulation Guishermo!!! One race... one victory!! You are the man!
Congratulations Biggie, I'm very happy with your result, I think that
you aren´t happy with a 4th... but it isn´t a bad result! In next races
you will win!
I´m quite happy with my race, because I train alone, and I´m not
fast... but when I was in the clasification, I run 1 second faster!!!
In the race, I hadn´t a good felling with the front tyre... and I was
idiot if I were to crash so i prefer be slower but not to crash, too
many people crashed!! It was to improve my clasification!!
In short, I´m happy with the 9th position, but I'll try to improve in
the next races! See you m8´s!"
TT98-XL VLT
Racing TT98 Design (22nd, 17:25.244):
"I am very happy with my result, first race of the season, on a track I
just cannot get to grips on..
My race was lonely until the last 2 laps, Gafo and DavyB were both gone
out of sight, but DavyB made a mistake and I could catch up with him
again, the last 2 laps we had a little fight, resulting in to a final
dash to start finish, I had a great slipstream, and saw myself winning,
but due to lag I ended up 3rd with 0.1s behind DavyB, it's a shame..
I am happy to start the season without a crash for sure, it could have
been one big disaster...
I am looking forward to Jerez, because I know I have a good race-pace
there! and am sure that I can score some points there! It would be too
nice to score points this early in the season! I am happy to be back in
MotoGP500online! Let's hope it's gonna be a
furtile year for VLT Racing!"
Join us in 2 week's time for the MotoGP500online Grand Prix of SPAIN at
Jerez.
