  News 01/07/07  Round 7. Catalunya : Montmeló

Seby shows his supremacy in Catalunya, at the famous Montmeló circuit, winning the race by over 5 seconds to the Dutch Devil SFW, with Thunder third.

Seby became the fourth rider to defeat MotoGP500online World Champion Skider this season after a thrilling race at the Montmeló circuit in Catalunya. The Romanian youngster clinched his first victory of the season with a performance that reflected his dominance throughout free practice this weekend, despite having conceded the hot lap to Skider in the race.
Seby snatched the lead from Vouks in the first corner and, after briefly conceding his position on lap four, he was back in front just two laps later as the Greek ran into the gravel and saw his chance of winning his second race this season disappear. Whilst SFW recovered from a bad start to pile on the pressure over the final few laps, Seby held firm to take the chequered flag with a comfortable advantage of 5.980 seconds over the Dutch Devil.
Second place for SFW represented his only second podium finish this season.
Whilst Skider returned to the track in fourth place after a light crash he could do nothing to prevent his team mate Thunder from clinching his first ever podium finish in MotoGP500online.
Max’s chances of beating his team mate were over after the Greek could only muster seventh place in today’s race behind Vouks, who passed his Yamaha colleague with a daring pass on the final lap. CrazyBoy managed to bring the bike home in 6th place. Whilst Guishermo, Dolz and Gaz&Slide completed the top ten, Jake capped an impressive display by clinching eleventh place, his best ever result. The Britain’s performance was made all the more remarkable by the fact that he finished ahead of Yamaha colleague Bradders.
The fight for runner-up spot in the championship become a lot clearer with youngsters Seby and Vouks now the only realistic challengers to end the season as number two behind Skider.
Spanish rider Guishermo seems unlikely to challenge for the title as he now sits fourth overall, 45 points adrift of Skider.

Seby Lords Of Shadow (winner, 16:09.498):
"Thanks guys! I dedicate this victory to Ayrton Senna, I've watched many races and interviews with Ayrton each day before our race and it gave me more confidence. RIP
Congratulations SFW, great to have you back on the podium mate.
First podium for Thunder, gg mate, keep it up (I hope you won't kick my ass in Brno).
Back to my favourite mofo from em all, Skider.
Skider 4th (FOURTH)??? after 21 podiums in a row? OMFG, keep up the good pace NOT!
A win in Catalunya, at your home race Skider, is more important than 10 other victories!
Admit what you did in your home race Skid! BINGO! you were ass raped hahahha.
How many points between us now? 19? holy number, you're doomed!
I say all of this while I can cuz I bet you'll kick my ass in the future so dunno when I'll have another chance to make jokes. God i'm a jerk but we all know Skid is the best rider so when we beat him we have huge orgasms lol.
eh dont worry, I'm just messing with ya Skid, don't take it seriously.
Now go fetch daddy a beer and his slippers. PRONTO! PS hhahahaha
Back to my race lol, in practice I ass raped all guys but in the official race (with Vouks and Guishermo) I didn't have the best start and Vouks was right on my tail, we passed each other 4-5 laps until I managed to escape a bit and when I was 1 second in front or so, he fell. Then Guishermo fell when he was 2-3 seconds behind me. In the last laps I saw the gap to Vouks was 12.3 seconds so I thought I should take it easy so I won't make the same mistake as them. Then I remembered there was another race going on (Skider, SFW and down) so I pushed a bit harder but not hard enough for mistakes. I managed to finish the race 13.9 seconds in front of Vouks but only 16:09 total time. In practice I did 16:04 - 16:05 so I was a bit worried that SFW/Skider could beat me. When SFW said that he did his worst race in history of time I was worried, I thought Skid had won the race. But then he said he managed to beat the Spanish armada and made me the most happy man on the planet. Congratulations again SFW and thanks."

Skider Oasics NoGrip Racing Team (4th, 16:18.175):
"Congratulations Seby, this time you had the chance, you were the favourite and you didnt disappointed us, GG mate. Is nice to see SFW doing better in this race lol, winner from last year and 2nd this time, definively Cata is one of your best tracks, well done. I'm so glad to see my team mate, Thunder, doing his first podium of his career, and also to see 3 Suzukis in the top5, well done guys!
About my race... I can only say I messed up my race when it was almost in my hands, raced with SFW and down. First, down stole the start and he had DNF because of the black flag after few laps, at the beginning SFW got the lead with down and me were right behind him but entering the Wurth corner he went a little bit wide and lost his advantage, on the next right handle it was an anticoll bug and I hit the dutch man without meaning to, sorry mate, and he touched the kerb and the gravel loosing some time. After the first lap I had down behind me at 1 sec gap almost until he had the DSQ, he made a great pace during those laps, pitty mate, it could have been interesting. Then I had SFW at 2 secs behind me, aprox until 2 laps to go when on the first braking after the front straight I lost the front end and crashed. On the previous lap I did 36.7 when usually was doing low 36 so I wanted to recover the time, just half a second lol but I braked too late, damn! then I did 36.4 in the last 2 laps. I'm very disappointed because I wanted to win specially because it was my home race and also because it finished a string of 21 consecutive podiums, however I hope it will give me more motivation to do well in the next races.
See you this weekend at wet Donington Park, we'll see what will happen, there aren't many days to practice in this difficult conditions."

Vouks MotoGP Greece Racing Team (6th, 16:23.465):
"GG Seby!
GG SFW you find the way to podium again.
GG Thunder well done.
GG GrazyBoy you nearly beat the champion.
GG Max next time better.
GG Dolz for top 10 and for: Yvos-Dolz 2-5.
Yvos maybe if we stop train we go better??? lol
This Cata race did change alot of things (riders standings, constructors standings, podium guys, crashes hehe).
I can't even think what will be in next race wich is wet.
See you all there"

Guishermo Hurricane Miu Racing Team (8th, 16:24.889):
"Well done Seby! Fantastic result, despite the fact that you said at the end of the race that Skider or SFW would beat easily that time.
GG to SFW, it's good to see you again on the podium, also to Thunder, a very fast guy who deserved this result, and to everybody who took part in the race.
I raced with Seby and Vouks and i'm very dissapointed, I did a very bad start and lost 1 - 1.5 seconds in the first lap... Then I was able to follow Seby and Vouks and I was hoping to catch them because our pace was not so strong compared to practice. A few laps later Vouks crashed when he was right behind Seby and I tried to catch Seby, but it was impossible, the gap was around 2 seconds with 4 laps to the end and I was still hoping the reduce the gap (because I thought I was using harder tyres as I did in Mugello, but that wasn't true, Seby was using the same tyres as me) and I had a silly and frustrating crash at the chicane after the long corners of the beginning of the track, I touched a little bit the curb while leaning (only a bit) and crashed, I knew that point was difficult but I didn't expected to crash with so little contact... I lost 13 seconds in that crash, so I would have finished second, but this is online racing and the mistakes you do have massive importance, and Seby is the only guy who hasn't done a big mistake yet... I suppose Skider crashed, so it could have been a good chance to take from him 5-10 points.
Next race, wet race, omg"

Jake Yamaha England MotoGP (11th, 16:28.956):
"Wow, my best finish yet, 11th and my first B win!
My race went really well, I got a good start and passed Atman on the run down to the first turn, then I started pulling away as I found a good rhythm, but I made a mistake in T3, I lost about 2 seconds and then Bradders was right with me again, the next lap he also made a mistake which gave me enough room to settle down into the rhythm again, then Brad put a fast lap in so I had to push harder, which wore my tyres out and in my last lap I had a few mistakes and Brad caught up but I managed to hold my lead to the line, Matt was unlucky because he was going really well but crashed on the last lap.
So I'm happy, I've got my first win, moved up 5 places in the championship and had my best finish yet. GG all."

Bradders Yamaha England MotoGP (12th, 16:29.302):
I was so close to Jake by the end of my race! I had a better drive out of the last corner and slipstream! Another 100m and I'd have got him! Ahh well, Jake's already told the story of my race, so I'll just say well done to him. And I'm glad to get my best ever position! We'll be challenging Dolz for #1 Yamaha England rider soon!
I'm enjoying wet Donington alot more than I expected, hopefully I can get win number 3.

Yvos Arkos Froggy's Connection (16th, 16:36.401):
"GG Seby, good one!
Also SFW and Thunder, very good race.
I raced on a very good room, with Transalp, Thunder, Crazyboy, Kaiser7K and Dolz.
I wish we could have the same room all the time.
I was second in qualifying and had a pretty good start, fighting with CrazyBoy and Dolz, but I had an unlucky crash in lap 3 and lost all my chances then.
I hope to do better in Dony wet, but I'm not very confident for that race....
Cya all then, some surprises again I guess with wet..."

TT98-XL VLT Racing TT98 Design (18th, 16:36.918):
"Well I had a good race after mugello where I stuffed it. But I just missed out on the podium by 0.2s which is such a pitty, I had the feeling I'd done a good race! but I guess Bradders and Jake were going like crazy :-) Congrats to Jake on his first win and to Bradders for opening up a bigger gap in the championship. The pressure is off now for me, as I don't think I will win the championship this year.
I did get 3pts for the overall standings though! which is marvellous! I'm happy with that, and sorry for my team mate who had a crash on the last lap...
Well Matt will appear on a special bike in Donington! So hope he will kick ass in the wett! Ciao"

rezist Rezist Racing Yamaha Team (22nd, 16:41.399):
"WELL DONE SEBY!!! Bravo!
Slaughtered em! it's about time you won another one too!
Congratulations to the podium!
Jeez, you need to almost finish in the top ten to win the B-class!!
22nd (7th) for me, I had a good race but I was never totally happy with the setup, I feel like I could've done some faster laps with a better balanced setup... anyway it's much better than Mugello lol"
