News 26/08/07  Round 12. Czech Rep. : Brno

Skider takes his third victory of the season in front of Seby and down at Brno.

Skider got his third victory of the year at the CARDION AB GRAND PRIX CESKE REPUBLIKY Brno.
It was Seby who made a strong lead at the start of the race and was leading for half the race until Skider caught and made a great move on Seby to take 1st after a thrilling chase, then he put his head down and Skider showed why he's the defending world champion. He started to pull away from Seby and won the race with a time of 16:44.001.

Skider Oasics NoGrip Racing Team (winner 16:44.001)

Im very happy with this victory, it gives me the confidence that I lost in the last races. Winning again after 6 races off from the top step of the podium is very important for me, to continue believe in my own possibilities and fight for the championship with all my forces. I know it will be very hard because the man in front of me is very strong, he has improved his pace very much compared to the beginning of the season and last year, so I think we'll have a very nice battle until the final round of the season.
Congratulions to Seby for his strong performance on a track he doesnt like and of course to down for the podium. Pity we had guishermo off from his strongest performance because he is very fast aswell.
Well, about the race:
It was interesting, I found a gr8 setup on wednesday and I started to practice with them to improve my pace day by day, to do regular laps all the race. I did a bad start, Seby took the lead and tried to scape with Guishermo right behind him, but my compatriot hasnt a good race pace so he lost the gap lap by lap. I overtook guishermo and I tried to follow Seby because he was pushing really hard doing very good laptimes, the gap between us was 1 sec, fortunatelly I didnt make any mistake this time and I closed the gap, at 4 laps to go I did the move trying to overtake him on the chicane after the second straight of the track, he overtook me again on the following braking point but went wide and I took the lead till the end of the race.

Seby Lords Of Shadow (2nd 16:46.254)

I didn't do too many laps of practice compared to other races and until Sunday (race day) I was a bit worried, not because of the victory but I was worried that I won't be able to fight for the podium. I've always been slower at Brno.
Saturday we hosted down and at that moment my best time in practice was 16:48 so I knew I had to work very hard on Sunday in order to be on the podium.
Sunday I did around 4 hours of practice with Saber120 and rezist (thanks m8s) and we managed to find a very good setup which made me faster by 0.5 per lap and 3 seconds in total time. All I wanted from the official race was to stay on the bike, put a little pressure on Skider and to finish in front of down so I won't lose too many points in the standings. I wasn't expecting to beat Skider, I was 80% sure he would win.
Official race started, I took the lead and tried to escape but Skider was right behind me, I managed to stay in front of him about 5-6 laps but as the race went on, my tyres started to heat up so I had to slow down a bit. Skider went past me but I didn't want to fight because a collision or a mistake would have been very bad for each of us so I just stayed calm and concentrated to stay on the bike and finish the race.
Skider managed to put a 2 seconds advantage over me which probably would have been impossible for me to keep up, not even in practice.
I wanted to risk in the first part of the race because I had to finish with a good total time, no matter what happend in the room. But in the second part of the race I didn't want to risk, I thought I had enough to be in top2. It was also a very delicate situation, a fall in this race would have ment outside the top10 which could have been the end of the fight for the title so there was no point to risk beyond a certain level. I was pleased with 2nd place at a track I don't like, I passed the test. Now looking forward to the last 6 races, only 4 points between us and the fight will be better than ever

TT98 VLT Racing (16th 17:10.893)

Well a great race for VLT Racing, congratulations to venturi on taking the win, but a big up to my teammate Matt who I had a great battle with. Photo finnish, and 2nd n 3rd for the team, what a result! For the race I knew I had to be conservative and not make any mistake, no grass no gravel, as this is a tricky circuit where you have to stay a 100% focused on your lines, especially in the last laps when the tyres go of very quickly. Our direct rivals didn't do so well this race, and we took out the maximum results for us, we gained good points on them!

Rezist racing yamaha team 20th 17:13.504

well finally ive had a really good race, the position isnt much but im really happy with the speed i could get, i improved by about 1s over just 2 days lol  thanks to Seby for the setup
17th on the grid is quite good but realistically i shouldve been more consistent in the race, TT98's result is a good example of that  his hotlaps were outside my time, but he finished well ahead of me....my strategy (as usual) was to go hard early but it hurts in the final laps lol
congratulations SkiDer back to the top step

Well done to everyone who made the race.

Next race
MotoGP500online arrives in Misano for the first time.
Hope to see all you there for a great race.
