  News 11/11/07  Round 17. Malaysia : Sepang

Skider wins again to secure a comfortable 17 points lead at the top of the standings with only one race remaining. Seby and SFW completed the podium.

Skider took his 6th victory of the season in a dramatic race at the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix which saw championship rivals Seby and Skider battle it out once again. Seby started the race from Pole Position but it was Skider who took the lead in the first corner to the surprise of everybody as Skider is well known as a slow starter. Seby dropped further back after Guishermo managed to pass him few corners later. By lap two Seby's tyres warmed up and he started his comeback as he passed Guishermo at the back straight. His main target was Skider as a victory for the Spaniard would have meant the end of Seby's dreams for the Title this season. The fight between the two great rivals started in the 3rd lap and lasted until the 6th lap. Although Seby had a great comeback at the start of the race, he wasn't able to keep up with Skider in the last laps as the Spaniard built a 2 seconds advantage over the Romanian until the finish line. Skider now has a 17 points lead over Seby in the standings and looks to become the first ever back to back winner of the World Title. Seby's last chance is to win the last race of the season in Valencia and Skider to finish in 8th position which is very hard to believe considering Skider's worse position in the last 30 races was 4th. Seby has very small chances but as anything is possible in racing, he will not rest until the championship is mathematically over.
SFW and Vouks had a battle of their own and while Seby and Skider were fighting for the victory, they gained up ground on the leading pair but Seby managed to keep the Dutch Devil behind his tail as they finished within 0.047 of a second with Vouks a further 0.2 of a second behind in fourth place. Rookie rider Gabi46 did his best performance of the season as he followed the leading riders until the finish line. The wildcard rider brought his bike home in fifth place and has opened the top factory teams' eyes and practically earned a place in a top team for next year. Skider's team mate Thunder came in sixth, only 0.4 of a second behind Gabi46.
Meanwhile Guishermo crashed his bike in the middle of the race as he was following Seby and Skider but he managed to continue the race and did an amazing last lap in low 53s while others were in 54s but it wasn't enough to give him a good position as he finished only seventh. Yvos, Transalp and Bradders completed the top 10.

Skider Oasics NoGrip Racing (winner, 17:04.172):
"Congratulations to Seby and specially SFW for the podium after long time. Well done to Gabi46, nice pace for a rookie.
I've done a good performance during the short practice for this race. I felt very good on the bike, I always had fun racing in this track because of the selective corners it has. I did my pb in practice on Monday and I couldn't beat it in my official race. The race was weird for me, I did a good start, I took the lead right from the start (unusual on me lol) and Seby was right behind me in the first laps. My pace was not bad but it wasn't my best though, I didn't need to push very hard to keep up the first place. At the middle of the race Seby closed down the gap and overtook me, but his pace was not very fast and I could overtake him quickly again. Then I opened a gap enough to finish without problems, I thought for a close race but it wasn't... pity it wasnt like last year. Now it's time to have fun in this last race of the season, hope we can see a big battle to end the championship the best possible way, altough I have 17 points advantage for the last race, I'd like to fight for the victory again at Valencia, would be nice to finish the championship with another victory, but won't be easy because there will be many riders fighting for the victory, it's the last race of the season and everyone wants to finish with a good position. Cya and have fun!"

Seby Lords Of Shadow (2nd, 17:06.931):
"Congratulations Skider! not even now you don't believe me when I say the title is 99% yours?
Also first podium for SFW in 10 races, gg m8. And Gabi46 too, very good race there.
Looking at the results I can say I'm glad I'm 2nd, 0.2 slower and I would have been 4th again.
I didn't have time to practice for Sepang so I guess the race was pretty good.
I'm affraid I won't have much time to practice for Valencia either but I'll do my best again to fight for top2 so we can win constructor's standings for Yamaha.
Looking at the results from this year, the only difference between Skid and I are: a 4th place and a 6th place for me while he had 2 second places, that's where the difference of 17 points is. Pretty amazing, 2 riders to have almost identical results during a season and mostly, the top 2 riders. Well that's about it, I hope to have some fun in Valencia and to end the best season ever."

SFW Kawasaki Racing (3rd, 17:06.978):
"Well, congratulation to Skider again and prehaps congratulation for the title!
Well done to Seby despite beating me on the finish line...
And what about Gabi46, a great preformance by our new rookie.
I had a great race with Vouks and pretty much the whole race Vouks was close behind me and I could hear his engine all the time. Lucky for me I felt very comfortable on the bike and could stay focused for the whole race... exept the last lap where missed every corner and lost my race to Seby...... bastard!
I couldn't help notice that there was a huge battle going on between Yvos and Dolz, now I didn't see it myself but according to my relailable source seems that eventually Dolz cracked under pressure and crashed the bike... thats a shame.
Anyway next race Valencia, like all the riders I too want to end the season with a good result so I'll try to do some practice and kick some ass on the track."

Vouks MotoGP Greece Racing Team (4th, 17:07.205):
"GG Skider very good race!
GG Seby and SFW close racing... and podium.
GG Gabi super performance m8!
Dolz 9-8 Yvos, that means a very good long season fight, may the best win it.
See you all in Valencia, maybe the worst track of the season for me."

Guishermo Hurricane Miu Racing Team (7th, 17:18.982):
"Congratulations to the guys on the podium, specially to Skider, you almost got it m8!
I'm going to describe my race shortly but as it was: BIG PIECE OF CRAP!3 run-offs in the same corner (that means I did that corner 33 % of the race f'ing disastrous) and one crash, my hotlap was not so bad and I did 1:53.3 in the last lap with soft-med, so I was very quick (maybe could have won the race), but with so many mistakes it's impossible to make a good result and it's my fault. See you in Valencia."

Yvos Arkos Froggy's Connection (8th, 17:20.025):
"Héhé...dunno if this will make Dolz post in the forum though...
Video Highlights will show all.
GG Skider, Seby second, and SFW back on the podium.
My race was solid, I did some mistakes at the beginning, but got a good pace for a few laps, then had to face Dolz and Transalp come back... which I managed to control.
Now it's 8-9 with Dolz and 4 points in the standings.
Cya in Valencia for the Finale!"

Bradders Yamaha England MotoGP (10th, 17:27.034):
"I lost my chance for B-class title when I went on holiday and missed races/had no chance to practice. To be honest though, LuKe deserves it.
Anyway, glad to get in the top 10 again and win B-class, it's been a while! I quite like Valencia so I aim to be back up there next week!

TT98-XL VLT Racing TT98 Design (11th, 17:32.356):
"To be honest, it's impossible for me to get it, unless Luke doesn't race...
Out of the 24 riders that turned up at Sepang, there were only 5 B-class riders... the difference is 10 pts, which would mean you'd have to be atleast 11 points behind me so I could win the B title.
Which would mean that I have to win, and you have to finish at least 4th or lower... well, unless you fall 3 times...
If I lose this, it's my own fault, because I had the chance at PI and Sepang, if I would have won there, we'd be tied, and then it would have only been a matter of finishing in front of you.
BUT, I will push as hard as possible to win the race!"

rezist Rezist Racing Yamaha Team (16th, 17:41.628):
"Sorry to butt in lol... but congratulations to Skider for a gr8 victory!
16th is my best result this year, by 2/100ths of a second if you dont mind but I do recognise that the field is only 24 riders... if you ask me that is the perfect size hehe... but of course, any less would be very bad....
All that and I still couldn't get a B-grade podium!"

Atman Asica Racing Team (18th, 17:42.704):
"Thanks for the results, very good job after every race...
24 riders on start, like in gp500 game... Qualify result and 14th place for me is very good, the best position on start grid this year. Also best lap 1:55 for 10th is ok for me.
In standings I got 22nd place after some riders didn't take part in the last races of the season. Still it's possible to get 21st place, good result in Valencia about 15th place is real.
Also in history I overtook Martino for 28th place, not bad.
I am looking forward to Valencia with Mircea, Fonta, Venturi, StainLey and maybe some more riders from Friday till Sunday."

LuKe Tornado-CreW (DNS):
"Great Race for Skider, Seby, and SFW!
My race was not really good, couse I can't take part.
I will hope that my Internet Connection is back for the last race of the season.
Also a very nice result for Bradders and TT98.
TT98, we'll have a nice battle in the last race for the B class title.
See y'all, I hope at valencia, couse I will get the B-Class title!"
