Round 8. British : Donington
Seby takes his 4th victory of the
season to take back the standings lead from SFW by 4 points.
Seby won at
Donington with a terrific ride, taking the holeshot and never looking
back.
A breakaway plan from Seby worked to perfection in today’s British
Grand Prix at Donington Park, as he took the holeshot and never looked
back. Keen to avoid a battle between himself and predicted podium
finisher SFW, the Lords Of Shadow rider burst out of the blocks and set
about putting space between himself and the rest of the field. A new
circuit record was made by Seby by the second lap, and he kept the pace
up throughout the 12 lap race.
Despite being his first year on a Kawasaki, Seby has proven that he has
what it takes to beat SFW after taking 3 victories from the last 4
races as he seeks his first World Title this season.
A second consecutive win proved a wish too far for Yamaha UK-NL's SFW,
who nonetheless fulfilled expectations by fighting his way up to second
place thanks to Skider's and Guishermo's crashes. Qualified in 4th
place, LuKe made a strong charge, gaining a place on the first lap and
challenging SFW for second three laps later. By mid-race, the Kawasaki
rider dropped his pace and allowed SFW to take second place while he
had to settle with a rostrum finish - his second of the season. Arkos
Connection’s Vouks took fourth, crossing the line more than seven
seconds behind Seby, followed by Gabi46, Thunder and Bradders.
Guishermo took eight ahead of Yvos and fabbsan, who completed the final
top 10.
Interviews:
Seby Lords Of
Shadow (winner, 16:20.751):
"Congrats to SFW and LuKe for podium, also Bradders, fabbsan and
Snikolaus for good results.
My race was pretty good, I've expected to win here but I didn't thought
it would be that easy.
In the first practice session SFW was faster than me, I used to fall
often while he didn't make mistakes. Once he left the room I started to
do better lap times with soft-med than he did with soft-soft and also a
much better total time.
My setup was a bit risky on the brakes but that was the only way I
found to be so fast. Skider and Guishermo had my setup and they both
fell so I also feel responsible for their bad results for which I'm
sorry m8s. I knew they were fast but not enough to beat me so I was
hoping they would both finish the race between me and SFW.
The race was easy for me, I knew I had to fight with myself, not to
make mistakes and keep calm until the end. I took the lead from the
first corner and I kept it until the end. In the last laps I didn't
push too hard, I was taking it easy, looking back, similar to last year
at Donington.
I'm happy with the pole position because it's my 5th here, I've taken
all the poles ever at Donington. There's no time to think too much
about this race, we have Assen in few days and I'm trying to stay
concentrated."
SFW Team
Yamaha UK-NL (2nd, 16:24.714):
""GG to Seby for the master class win and also nice to see LuKe back on
podium.
My race wasn't what I've hoped for but I'm very pleased with the result.
Once again the epic battle against Seby continued on Donington but this
time the battle wasn't that epic as in the past races. I'm sure Seby
didn't mind winning that easy but I would have liked to put some
pressure on Seby and had a good battle.
Straight from the start Seby took away and in the first laps I made
some mistakes and touched the grass few times so I lost confidence to
push and had to settle down and finish as best as possible. Like I've
said I'm happy with my result and next race I hope to get some revenge.
As for my team, Bradders did great and finished 7th and Dolz really
disappointed his home crowd but still could add 6 more points to his
total.
And suprised to see NL-UK team back on the bikes and actually finishing
a race.
TT98 did a solid race but Matt crashed too many times. Better luck next
time fellas.""
LuKe Dark
Racing Corporation (3rd, 16:26.467):
"GG Seby for this strong pace, and GG SFW for another Podium.
My race went very good. After the start I make some little mistakes but
after 2-3 laps I did the pace which I can go in pracs before. I'm very
very happy to take another podium finish after some hard races with
some crashs. All others do good results too, so it's not easy to get
higher in the standings and specially like Yvos said, the team
standings with Arkos Connection Team, our rivals for taking the 3rd
place. I hope for some good results in the next races, on nice tracks.
Cya all at Assen!"
Vouks Arkos
Connection (4th, 16:28.666):
"GG podiums guys!
35 riders looks good!
About 3th place in riders and teams standings, this story start to have
fun and well Guishermo maybe you were right 2-3 races ago that the
fight looks to be for THIRD place m8.
See you all in Assen..."
Bradders Team
Yamaha UK-NL (7th, 16:34.545):
"GG Seby and Fabbsan, top 10 already, well done!
Good home result for me, I had a couple of runoffs so I'm glad they
only cost me 1 place, I thought they'd be more costly.
Plus a runaway victory of 5 seconds in A class and I'm back in the
championship lead
From my home track to my favourite track next!"
Guishermo
Lords Of Shadow (8th, 16:36.921):
"GG Seby for great win, also SFW for the second place and Luke, very
good race man, that was fast. My race was disastrous, I was going to
use a setup with softs (with that one I could do 21 low easily but had
problems at the end of the race) but Seby gave his one with soft-med
and I could do the lap times I did with softs with a rear medium tyre
(personal best 1:20,8)... I wasn't as comfortable as I was with mine
but for sure it was a much better option... I was racing with Skider
and Seby, I did a good start but a bad first lap and Skider and Seby
were in front of me, then I could pass Skider and I tried to follow
Seby, but then the current champion overtook me and I wasn't so
comfortable... I was behind him when I touched a ripple and fell off, I
was a big pity but anyway I think that with the race I did I wouldn't
have beaten Luke with no crash...
Now im practicing for Assen and it feels very good, I hope I can do a
good result, for my motivation and to help my team with the standings."
Yvos Arkos
Connection (9th, 16:39.529):
"GG Seby, clear win here... also well done SFW and Luke, another podium
finish.
Very good race from Bradders in home track and also from fabbsan who
has already a top 10 finish. I raced with Thunder and Dolz, on a track
where I don't feel really confortable... so I did a cautious race and
couldn't follow Thunder. Dolz couldn't follow me as well, so it was a
bit boring this time and the result is fine to me, scoring good points.
EseNeen had some problems and Vouks could have taken the podium, so
overall it's a good result for our team but not enough compared to DRC
(Gabi and Luke), our rivals for 3rd place in the standings... Next race
is Assen, a good track for us I think, cya there this Sunday!"
