Round 16. Australia : Phillip Island
SFW takes his tenth victory of the
season at Phillip Island. Seby and Gabi46 completed the podium. SFW now
needs only 1 point to secure the title.
Interviews:
SFW Team
Yamaha UK-NL (winner, 15:44.366):
"Thank u all... wtf happened here, I can't believe I've won 10 races
this year.
In the beginning I thought maybe i could win 2-3 races but never
dreamed that it would go this well.
GG to Seby with a very strong race and also gg to Gabi for taking the
podium after other top riders failed to stay on track.
Preparations for this race went easy because we know this track for a
decade (literally) lol, so i had already a setup stored in my
collection. I only needed to adapt the setup because it had more grip
then the old track but then we decided to race on the old track because
of some bugs on the new one. I did some tests to see which tyres to
use. There was no difference for me in the total times but it was more
relaxed and consistent with soft tyres.
My race went great, I had a good start and could open a little gap from
the beginning, behind me Guishermo, LuKe and Skider were fighting hard
but eventually Skider won that battle but he was 1.3 sec behind me. On
the next 4 laps I was 0.1 sec faster but then by 3 laps to go I saw
Skider getting a bit closer......... then i said to myself ..... shit
he's on med tyres. On last lap Skider was 0.8 sec behind me but then he
crashed and I finished first.
About my team performance: I guess we missed a good opportunity because
Guishermo did a poor race, both Dolz and Bradders were few tenths/lap
too slow and in the race Dolz lost 5sec and Bradders maybe even 10sec.
Final results are not so bad but with little more speed and a lot more
consistency the results could have been much better."
Seby Lords Of
Shadow (2nd, 15:45.366):
"Congratulations SFW for your 10th (tenth wtf lol) victory of the
season. You only need 1 point from these last 2 races and the title is
yours.
Well done to Gabi46 for the podium finish, your first since Shanghai.
Also gg to Thunder and Mircea for pretty good races.
Again i didn't have time to practice, i did my race with Luke and Gabi
on Monday. Until Monday i only did few laps on Wednesday i think. I
remember Skider was fast in that session, he did 24.9 with soft-med
while i was doing 25.2. Since then i didn't have time for gp500 and on
Monday with 1 hour before my official i did some practice. I knew SFW
did a great time on Sunday and that i only needed to beat Luke and Gabi
for 2nd place. Since i had no real practice under my belt i decided to
change from soft-med to soft-soft. My goals for this race were to get
the hot lap and take 2nd place so i can bring some points for the team
because i knew Guish did a bad race. And i also didn't want to lose the
race at a big distance, i've disgraced myself enough in the last few
races.
Before the race i did few 24s but i used to fall at every 3-4 laps. In
official tho, i did a perfect race, not one single mistake. I did 3
laps under SFW's hot lap so i'm happy with that considering i didn't
practice much. Comparing my laps with SFW's, i was leader after 7-8
laps but i was slower than him in the last 3 laps. I only did 1
practice race with softs and i wasn't used to riding with red tyres
(both front and rear were red at the end). I'm surprised i went so fast
in this race, usually i'm slow at Phillip Island. With a bit more
practice maybe i could have had a good chance for the victory.
Next race is Sepang, i know SFW will want to win the title with a
victory but i'll try to stop that but more important for me is to get
some good points for the team in the next race so i might do a safe
race, specially so i can give everything at Valencia.
Let's dance."
Gaz&Slide
Arkos Performance (10th, 16:04.658):
"Well... it was an emotional race for me!
Playing @ GP500 since nearly 10 years and despite a not so bad season
until Laguna Seca, i was thinking it was time to retire from GP500...
I missed few races after Laguna but I thought it would be good to be
back for a "last dance" @ home, @ Phillip Island... PI was and is still
my favorite track, an amazing spot in both virtual and real lives.
There is no better place to say goodbye to GP500. I got some good
results here but I knew it'll be harder that time... I craped my
qualify: my lap was 1s slower than my hot lap.
As always when we rode together in the same session, Yvos crashed in
the early seconds of the race (2nd bend!!!). During the 2 first laps,
Thunder, Eseneen, fabbsan and me battled for the lead. We lose a lot of
time in that close battle and after just 2 laps, I knew I wasn't in
good trim. fabbsan and Eseneen crashed in the same way by losing the
front at Honda hairpin and gave me the 2nd spot behind Thunder. Despite
having no problems with the softs tyres, I made a couple of mistakes
and Dolz took the 2nd place of the session in the last lap. I tried to
reclaim the position especially for my team-mate, Yvos but it was a lil
bit too late... Anyway, the result doesn't really matter... the main
thing is that I'm glad I have been a protagonist of that
MotoGP500Online adventure.
Thanks to everybody for the organization, for the battles on track, for
the fun sessions... And special thanks to Yvos and to the team Arkos,
it was a pleasure to work for the "Froggy".
Take care!"
Guishermo
Lords Of Shadow (13th, 16:09.979):
"GG for everyone, specially to the podium guys, g8 ride especially SFW
and Seby (surprisingly good with few practice).
As for my race, if i said this i wouldn't need to say nothing more, i
had big hopes on this race because i was consistently in practice in
low 25s, i could do that easily and despite having softs i was able to
do in the lap before the last 25,9 and in the last around 1,26,5... But
everything went wrong, in qualifying my lap was not so bad but not
enough and i started 5th, i did the start and SFW was already with a
gap of around 5 tenths in the first corner... I was last in the start
and in the 3rd corner i passed everybody (except that dutch devil), i
suppose because i was on softs because it was quite easy... Since then
i tried to follow SFW and i did, but Skider and Luke started to push me
and i run-out )while trying to overtake them on the brakes) of the
track and crashed... Then i realized Vouks had also crashed before and
i after the crash i was 1 sec more or less... I tried to follow him
harder than hell and i did till the last laps where i fell in the same
fuking braking point and in the same way, run out and crash.
I'm quite sad so i will have to kick your asses in Malaysia bitches to
recover, at least the race for the team was no so bad because Seby
brought some points.
See you in Malaysia!"
rezist rezist
racing (DNS):
"Crap! well, i forgot to mention to Seby that i am currently on
Daylight Saving time, which mean i need him to be online early!!!
I came online around 10pm but Seby wasn't there for at least 1.5hrs,
not his fault i know and when i got a message from him once he was
online...it was too late, and it was 4am because i had fallen asleep
(watching F1 lol, always happens for some reason...)
I'm very disappointed to miss my home race, i reckon i would have
finished in front of Adam. its easy to figure it out because I'm very
consistent on this track...
But the disappointment probably is slightly less this year, because i
have missed a lot of races lol."
