News 05/04/2009  IRTA Test : Jerez

SFW dominates the first battle of the season at the Official IRTA Jerez Test.
Seby came 2nd at +0.269 with Skider 3rd at +0.609 and Vouks 4th at +0.686.

Interviews:

SFW Yamaha England-Netherlands (winner, 1:32.250):
"Thank you all!
After all those winter testing it was good to do some real laps that count for something. Jerez suits me well and I do most of my testing here so I guess it helps if you only get 2 sessions to make the best lap time.
I'm really satisfied with the way the official Irta test went for me, from the beginning till the end i was able to faster and faster and my best lap was almost perfect. I think other riders have the same potential but Jerez is a tricky track and a mistake is easy made when riding here on the limit. I'm looking forward to finally start racing and I think it's going to be great fun with these physics, last year we had to struggle with the tyres and setup strategy but now we don't have to worry that much about those things anymore and just have fun on the track."

Seby Lords Of Shadow (2nd, 1:32.519):
"Congratulations SFW for the victory in the first official fight of the season. Lucky it doesn't give points, only the keys to a Trabant.
Also gg to Skider, Vouks and Thunder for good laps in 32s.
30 riders took part in this test, looks very good, thanks all.
I did some practice this week and i did 32.6 in the first day of practice after 1 year without playing on this track. I did more laps with Vouks on Saturday and i did 32.3. Also on Sunday i did few 32.4 while hosting others but when the official session came i couldn't do such good times. I seem to lose some time in the last sector of the track, few times i had -0.100 or so to SFW in the 1st session and i lost it all in the last sector. In the 2nd session i only did one clean lap, that 32.6 and after that i made mistakes in every single lap, maybe because i was too tired and bored. I had some pretty good chances to be close to SFW but screw it every time. Ah well, i don't mind getting beaten in this test, i'm a bit disappointed it was at that difference, i think i could have been at less than 0.100 behind. Now it's time to wait and see if the guy who wins the Irta test can finally win the title after 6 years of racing or it will be like it usually is, which means they lose the title."

GVG Yamaha England-Netherlands (10th, 1:33.978):
"GG SFW and everyone else!
This test didn't went like expected. After my good result at Qatar i felt very strong and confident for this test. That Monday i did already my first laps at Jerez with others. I could do a 34 low then, but for the rest of the week i was very busy so i could not practice more. Then it was Sunday. Before the test i did an online session with SPIDEY en DanDam where i did a lap time of 33.8. I knew i could go faster cause i made a mistake in first section what cost me a couple tenths. Official came and i was ready. But i had a very hard time on the track. I made stupid mistakes and had a lot of trouble getting my lines well in the first section. An 34 high was all i can do. It didn't fell right and fast. In second session i try again and with a lot of trouble i improved my lap times till i did a 33.9 in my very last lap.
It was not what i had expected but that's how it goes. One time you do good and other time you have trouble. Jerez is for sure not my best track but i hope i can improve before we have the race here. First we go to Qatar where I'm heading with a positive feeling. In 4 of the 5 tests i joined(physics test not including), i finished in top 10. And the last one was a great result of course. A bit unexpected but i hope i can transform my good shape to the races. I'm ready for MGP 2009! See ya all at Qatar!
P.S. I want to thank Seby for everything he does to make this championship so alive. He puts a great effort in it and i really appreciate that!"

SPIDEY Team Sask Ducati (17th, 1:34.875):
"GG ev1, more riders! Welcome back rezist!
From Team Sask's Perspective,
Gr8 performance Daniele! Looking forward to a good season. My session was ok,but i could do better. I was on a better lap time but mistimed my run and hence ended up being not recorded, so i feel there is certainly lots of room for improvement. Riding a ducati is not all that easy, its a tricky bike to master. Peace, and enjoy the real motogp race this weekend!"

rezist Rezist Racing Yamaha (18th, 1:35.291):
"Top 20, thats good for me considering I've only done about 15 laps practice beforehand. lol
I went nearly 1sec faster in the second session which proves theres still more room for improvement.
With Jerez it's all about getting a clean lap, especially with all the extra runoff.
Most of the time i was 0.5sec or more away from my best time...
Well done to SFW who has struck the first blow for 2009 hehe, but after winning the Jerez (dry) test 2 years ago its hardly a surprise you must like this track."

Statistics:
SFW has taken a 0.269 advantage over the nearest rival in the Qualifying Award.
17 more rounds until we will know the winner of the Qualifying Award and it seems the battle will most likely be between SFW, Seby, Skider and Vouks.

Join us in 2 weeks time for the first race of the season at Losail, Qatar.
