News 24/05/2009  Round 4. France : Le Mans

SFW takes his 4th victory in a row from as many races, this time in France at Le Mans. Seby and Vouks completed the podium with home rider fabbsan came in fourth place.

Interviews:
SFW Yamaha England-Netherlands (winner, 15:59.212):
"Another race and another win! It seems like normal for me to win the race but i definitely don't get any presents and have to ride my best to win the race.
GG to Seby with strong 2nd place and Vouks despite some no-coll misfortunes still finishing on podium. Fabbsan again very strong leaning against the podium.
Creisi won the epic battle this time by only beating his brother Skider, when they pick up the pace a bit we could see them both fighting for the win.
I had a pretty good race obviously, the practice went good and didn't take me too much time to get the setup right. There are some key points in the track that are very important to be fast and consistent here.
First of all this is called a stop and go track so a solid front end that gives you confidence to brake hard and deep in to corners is very welcome.
Then some parts of the track are very bumpy, like the first and last corner and the first chicane. I've needed the max rebound available to get the bike stable there. then there are the two chicanes, a bit of trail was needed to get the bike quickly enough upright for the 2nd part of chicane. Eventually i had the max rebound and some compression damping to get the stability in the bumpy part but when exiting the first chicane often the bike gets airborne and you loose too much acceleration there. I had to reduce the amount of rear compression damping and increase the rear spring rate so only the front got airborne but he rear absorbed the bump and kept accelerating every time. The grip level was good so it was easy this time to make a setup... pretty much what should work in theory worked here, but if there is low grip then it becomes a persuit to find the grip and less about making the bike comfortable or easy to ride.
I had a very good qualifying where i did my pb time so i was confident for the race. The race started very good, I had a very good first lap and could control the race all the way. It was difficult without anyone in front to focus on and this track is hard to keep the concentration but it didn't prevent me to finish the race in style.
My team did again good and scored useful points for the team standings. GVG and Dolz scored some good points but I think they both wanted to be in top 10.
Once again Bradders couldn't make it due to technical problems."

Seby Lords Of Shadow (2nd, 16:01.026):
"Congrats SFW for another win and also big gg to Vouks for that amazing recovery. Also gg fabbsan who was very close to the podium, it will come soon m8.
My practice didn't went as well as i wanted, never felt fast this year at Le Mans and i also kept falling pretty often. I was 3rd fastest after SFW and Vouks in practice and i knew i was out of the fight if a miracle didn't happen. It didn't happen so i just did a safe race, i didn't push too hard and i just wanted to get the points. Another very boring race, it was over in the 2nd lap when the
difference was 1.5s or so and it stayed like that till the end. I've lost interest in racing, it's way too boring. The difference between the first 4 riders is too big, maybe not in seconds but you can see it clearly when you ride on track. I hope Vouks will keep up the good form so i can have some fights because otherwise it's all going from bad to worse.
rezist, we've raced on your track in 2007 and on simbike version in 2008, the simbike version is a bit better in terms of fps. Riding was smoother on the version we'll use."

fabbsan Motonline Racing Team (4th, 16:04.383):
"GG to SFW, who'll beat him this year? GG to Seby who could beat him, and GG to Vouks who got the 3rd place i hoped.
My first lap wasn't so good and i was happy to be 3rd in the second lap, i didn't found the good pace easily, i was in low 27 during few laps and i did high 26 in the middle of the race, during some laps i kept the gap with Vouks but in the 8th i made a mistake, yet and he overtook me. I couldn't improve my pace the last laps and i tried to finish my race without crash. 4th place isn't what i wanted but it's my best place in the champ, then i can feel happy.
See you next race where i'll try to ride WITHOUT MISTAKES!"

Guishermo Lords Of Shadow (11th, 16:14.291):
"GG SFW for the win and to the podium guys, it seems that the first three places have their owner right before the race unless something happens....
Once again I crashed... I feel very sorry for the team, but at least after the crash i was able to do a very very good pace of 27 low (i was quite inconsistent in practice) and the race was not so disastrous... It seems the gap from the top riders is more little, with no crash maybe i would have finish around 6 secs from the leaders so i have to be positive....
Last year i started like this one and in Mugello i had the pace to fight for the win, lets hope i can take another step forward, it is a track i really like.
See you next race!"

GVG Yamaha England-Netherlands (12th, 16:15.541):
"Congratulations AGAIN with your victory SFW.
For me it was my best so far. I ride a lot more comfortable and the nerves didn't influence my race pace. The first half of the race was just great! I did constant laps in 27 and felt very comfortable. The second half was not so good. I had a long day and start to felt very tired. I had nobody to fight with and just tried to follow Mgr, but he was to fast. I also run wide a lot and couldn't keep my lap times in 27. I kept Dolz en Mircea very easily behind me and eventually finished 12th. Not my best result and like SFW said, i really want to be in top 10.
I noticed that the gap to the front has reduced. In the begin it was like 20 secs and now 16 secs.
The competition is hard and there are more than 10 people who are faster than me so to be in top 10 is very difficult. I will try to continue to make no big mistakes in the race and hope that other will do. I'm leading the Rookie title with a nice gap to second and i'm still 9th in standings, so i'm satisfied. Only the last one is going to be very hard to keep!
See ya in Mugello!"

rezist Rezist Racing Yamaha (19th, 16:26.459):
"Yes well done again SFW i think the podium is getting a bit boring now lol its always the same three. I was lucky there to get into 19th but i could have gone probably 3 places better if the race had gone as planned, but anyway i'm always happy with any points after the last few seasons lol.
See you at Mugello, pity that its not my Mugello model (WTF? not to toot my own horn but i reckon that's the best track in GP500 lol) but i still managed to put all my skins onto this old model (which is actually the same model but a different conversion of it lol)."
