  News 07/06/2009  Round 5. Italy : Mugello

Seby achieved the 'holy trinity' of pole position, fastest lap and race victory in Italy at Mugello. SFW came in 2nd with Guishermo 3rd. fabbsan was close in 4th.

Interviews:
Seby Lords Of Shadow (winner, 16:26.035):
"Congratulations to SFW and Guishermo for podium and specially to fabbsan who should have been 2nd in this race, too bad it didn't happen.
Also gg to Mgr, Planas, rezist and Snikolaus for top10 results (say now you don't belong in class A). Also welcome Blejz to first points this year after a good race.
My practice started on Monday i think with fabbsan and he was better than me.
In the first few practice days the bike felt slow, it had no power. I didn't change much the setup and slowly but surely the lap times came down day by day. In practice my best was 37.5 and 16:24. I knew SFW didn't practice for this round so my job was to do a race without mistakes to take the win. On Saturday in qualifying Mgr did 37.6 and then 37.5 and i was a bit worried, i did 37.7 in the first half of the session. In the penultimate lap i was doing a bit better than him but did a 37.5, just behind him. In the last lap i made a small mistake and i thought i lost the pole but i guess i was lucky and the lap time was 37.4. This is a very hard track and with a perfect lap 37.1 or so was possible but to do that is very hard, maybe one from 100 laps.
In the race i started pretty well but in the first corner fabbsan and Mgr went in front of me and i was a bit worried because with somebody by your side is very very easy to make a mistake and lose the race. I was lucky they did a slow first lap compared to practice, high 42 while i did 42.2 so i took the lead. After that i just did normal laps, not too fast and not too slow, i guess safe laps. Each lap i was scared at the chicane so i lost about 2 seconds in this race because i took it easy in few scary corners. Half of the laps were good in high 37s while the other half were a bit slow in 38.2. In the last 2 laps i was only thinking about not making mistakes but i've managed to finish the race without a crash so i knew i took the first win when i saw 16:26.0 at the end. I was a bit sad because fabbsan was 3 seconds behind me, i was hoping him to be right behind me in the results but he was already behind Guishermo while Skider and SFW still had to race. Skider could have finished 2nd but he made a mistake (sorry for that m8) and he lost 4 seconds. Then SFW raced and at the begining he was very slow and i was hoping he wouldn't catch a podium but in the second part of the race he was very fast and consistent and a bit lucky to finish 2nd.
The result looks very good with pole, hot lap and race victory and also Guishermo on podium. But the race was again boring with no fights so i'm not so happy with it. I prefer a good fight, no matter of the result than to see solo races. I hope for more fights at Catalunya."

Guishermo Lords Of Shadow (3rd, 16:29.244):
"GG to Seby for the win and to SFW for the second place, Seby had the chance to recover many points but the damage was the lowest possible.
I'm extremely happy with my result because my race was not very fast, i was trying to do a safe race after so many mistakes in previous rounds so my lap times weren't fast enough, but my rivals weren't neither too fast and i took profit from it... step by step i'm closer to the top and i'm starting to think that i can be fighting for the podium every race, 3 races ago that was something impossible so im quite happy and i'm looking forward to Montmelo."

fabbsan Motonline Racing Team (4th, 16:29.519):
"Big GG to Seby for your finally victory, GG SFW on the podium again and to Guishermo2T for your 3rd place you got with few fucking tenths.
I'm clearly a bit disappointed about my 4th place because i've never been so closed from the 3rd place but i'm happy because my gap with the winner is the lowest since i'm doing the champ.
My race started well, i was in front with Seby and mgr, and i knew it'll be very close between us in view of the practice session during the week. Seby made the good choice overtaking mgr quickly in the first lap, but it was harder for me i only did it in the second lap, mgr was lagging and disturbed me a lot. Anyway i passed him and Seby was 1s in front of me, i thought i could keep the same gap or maybe rejoin him but i couldn't improve my pace and wasn't consistent in my lap times, mgr was close of my ass and i could heard him with his fucking lagging sound engine, that's why my concentration wasn't so clean. Anyway GG to mgr for his strong race it wasn't an easy story to stay front of him, he was so close that i couldn't done a mistake until the finish line.
Seby says than Mugello is a very hard track but Catalunya is harder for me, i don't think i'll be as fast as Mugello, even if i hope i'm wrong."

rezist Rezist Racing Yamaha (9th, 16:46.694):
"Congratulations Seby for finally knocking SFW off the top step!
Well done SFW and Guishermo for the podium!
And i suppose it was bad luck for Vouks...not there this time...
But without that, i wouldn't have achieved my equal best race result ever!
I was 9th at Paul Ricard in 2004 lol, so it took a long time for me to return to the top 10.
I did my race session with Snikolaus, and I got a good start, did a couple of 1:39 laps, and then 1:40 for the rest of the race, very smooth... and also very nervous because i could hear Sniko behind me the whole second half of the race, but luckily he didn't get past me lol."

Vouks MVM Racing Team (11th, 16:47.696):
"Usually i don't speak about my performance in races but this time i need do that. I have done many races in this champ and the races were i have not fun is not more then 5 i think. Right, 1 off them is Mugello 2009. Just no fun, i was fighting with my wheel to stay on board, my bike was too slow (feeling) the lap times were SHIT, others were too fast... just shit. All that off course have nothing to do with WIN from Seby, GG m8 well done and as i say already to you even SFW will be happy with your win. GG off course to Guishermo for first podium in 2009. Well about fabbsan what can i say, m8 even we start to be nervous about your first podium.
About MVM i start from academy boys and i will say a big GG to Sk18 for a very good race. Allso Tolis is not far back and in the fight for C Class.
Now about Mgr what can i say he was super fast on this track and was the team hopes for a podium here but finally he took a very good 5th place. For team is ok but for him sure not, so we are happy that he will try more in Catalunya. See you all... there."

GVG Yamaha England-Netherlands (12th, 16:48.350):
"Congratulations to Seby for the win!
I'm pretty suprised with this result, because i haven't done any practice at all. The first laps in my qual were actually the first one at this circuit. However i knew the layout from the old days, playing the demo. I'm very busy lately so i'm happy i could find some time do to the race. Just want to get some points (wasn't expecting them) I made a lot of small mistakes but made sure i didn't crash. Also i had a lot of trouble with my both hands which are both a bit injured, so i had some pain during race plus i had no good setup at all!
So looking back, a 12th place isn't bad all.
GG to Planas for 8th place! Nice job there!
Leading the A-class and the rookie title keeps me positive for the next races!
Next time around is Catalunya and i hope i've the time to practice!"

DanDam Team Sask Ducati (16th, 16:53.088):
"I feel very disappointed about my race because i fell at the first corner.
But my disappointment increases when i think how it happened.
I was 5th on the grid and thanks to my gear ratio i overtook all the riders in front of me except Seby. As usual in the first lap of official races, i decided to avoid risks riding safely and braking softly. Then, as soon as i braked, 3-4 bikes crossed my own bike that suddenly crashed.
I was really surprised because i did nothing so much risky!! The presence of other bikes ON mine didn't give me the chance to see my front tyre sliding. Moreover i noticed that the anti collision system is not much efficient this year, since the bike tends to jump when crossed by another one. This could be another explanation of my crash.
I know that this championship is a challenge rather than a funny game for most of the participants, but the respect must be the main feeling that drives people.
Nobody can give me back my- maybe- "perfect race" but i really hope that someone will receive the right penalty. In this way people will start thinking twice before crossing an opposing bike. It is an official rule!!!"

Pity Source Team (21st, 17:08.069):
"I am quite satisfied, with my pace in Mugello, I am sorry for QP II where I took pole by mistake (ESC - Pits) but, it wasn't any advantage for me. During the race a tried to do my best and I tried to not crash. And the End, I was 4th but not so much times from 3rd position. Congratulations to Blejz, Barcelona isn't my favorite track, my gap from the best riders will be worst then Mugello."
