Round 6. Catalunya : Montmeló
Seby took his 2nd succesive victory
of the season after his main rivals SFW and Vouks crashed their bikes
on Sunday in Catalunya but managed to finish the race in the top 11.
fabbsan took his first MotoGP podium and will be delighted with the
best result of his career while former two times World Champion Skider
completed the podium.
Interviews:
Seby Lords Of Shadow (winner,
15:57.745):
"Big congratulations fabbsan for your first podium, and even better,
2nd place. One mistake from me and you would have been the winner.
Also gg to Skider for the podium and to Mgr for 4th place. DanDam also
a very good race, same for Mircea, gg guys. Also very good result for
SFW, keep it up m8, similar in the next races and i'll be happy. lol
In the standings the difference in points is more fair now and i hope i
can keep up the good form.
I started the practice pretty well and i could fight with Vouks from
the beginning, he was very fast, a bit faster than me in 1 lap but i
was more consistent than him. We had very similar times and i enjoyed
fighting with him in those many practice races. I think i've changed
the setup 50 times until race day, i was a bit lucky too, Sunday i put
more rake, from 22.6 to 22.7 and i could improve my lap times by 0.2 or
so. I could do 34.8 - 35.1 all race long and 15:55 total time. I knew i
was going to have a hard time with Vouks and maybe also with SFW.
fabbsan was also fast, not as fast as us but very consistent, close
behind and one mistake from us could have given him a much awaited
podium. In qualifying i did only 34.8, in both sessions. I was
expecting a 34.6 or 34.7 but i made small mistakes in almost all laps.
Vouks beat me in qual by a very small difference and it got me a bit
angry and disappointed. The official race started and i did my best to
escape or to try to follow Vouks as in practice. There were too many
ppl there at the start and in the 4th corner of the first lap SFW fell,
i looked behind to be sure it was him and then i was more relieved. I
was 1st with Vouks right behind me so i had to stay focused because the
first lap is usually the hardest. Lap by lap i increased my advantage
and when i was looking back there were 3 guys fighting there, Vouks,
fabbsan and Skider. They were too busy fighting with each other so i
just kept my head down and did safe laps, which were better than theirs
because they were fighting with each other. After mid race i started
doing a bit slower lap times, around 35.3 instaid of 34.9 - 35.1 so
with 3 laps to go i decided to push a bit harder so i can take the hot
lap and i did it, 34.9 which was better than SFW's lap. In the last 2
laps i didn't push, i was kind of slow, two laps in 35.4, no point to
risk anymore and i was surprised to see fabbsan beating Skider but i
was also glad because i know fabbsan really wanted a good result and
for sure he deserved it. The race per total was again boring, no fights
for me and also pretty slow, kind of a safe race, around 2-3 seconds
slower than what i could have done. I'm really sorry for Vouks who was
very fast here and i was hoping a very good fight with him.
I also recovered 20 points in the standings which is pretty good, SFW's
run of 25 consecutive podiums has ended, our team moved up in the
standings and looks good for the future, in general a good weekend,
except the fight i was hoping with Vouks. Next track Assen, a track i
don't like and where i'm not so fast but there's nothing i can do now,
it's my fault we race on it, from 4 Assen track models we use the worst
one."
fabbsan
Motonline Racing Team (2nd, 16:00.609):
"GG Seby for your second victory and also to Skider for your 3rd place.
I was really happy when i passed the finish line but i was also very
surprised because my pace wasn't so good in race, i rode consistent in
mid 35 and i know some riders were faster than me, i wasn't confident
too after qualify session because i did a low 35 with much difficulty.
Anyway my start was good from the second row but after the first
chicane i was last, the first surprise came from SFW when he crashed in
the 4th corner and Guish 2T went into the grass on the same place, so i
was 4th now and i overtook Skider in the next corner. I took 2nd place
in the 1st lap overtaking Vouks (in the replay we fight a long time
together but i don't remember so much of it, maybe it comes from our
different places and connections). I stayed some laps behind Seby and
tried to keep the same gap, near 1s, i could see Skider and Vouks fight
for the 3rd place and i thought it was good for me. In the middle of
the race, Seby improved his pace and i couldn't follow him, then i
tried to ride without mistake until the 8th lap in which i did many,
Skider overtook me and i told to myself "he can't do the same thing he
did in Motegi", then we fight 2 laps and in the final lap i could
passed him and keep my place until the finish line.
It was a intensive and really funny race for me, thx m8s for it.
This podium is a good present for me because i began this champ last
year on this track and i remember yet what i thought before my first
online race :"i'm going to kick all their asses!" but i was 3s slower
in qual and 2.5s slower in race, and then i thought "what the fuk", how
are they doing to go so fast!!!
I watched replays to understand and then i saw first a different
rider's leaning between fast riders and me, i rode "automatic" and them
"manual". So i change it and could improve from 1s, but until the last
race i was between 1 and 1.5s slower than fast riders. For sure there
was another thing and i finally found where was the main difference
between my riding style and theirs, on brake and acceleration. Then the
only way to be faster was to use an analogic controller. I start to use
it after the WSS champ and it wasn't so easy in the first time with all
these controls to manage. But i practiced and i could acclimate to it,
and now i'll never change for another controller, this is the best to
enjoy this game, have fun and the only way for the last gap.
I hope i could do another podium in the future and have so funny fight
and race.
Cya all, see you soon at Assen, the temple of motorcycle races."
Skider NoGrip
Racing (3rd, 16:01.157):
"Congratulations Seby for this victory, well done, good game fabbsan
for your first podium, we had very nice battle.
I did few laps on Saturday and Sunday before the official race and I
wasn't so confident cuz I didn't have my best results on this track
previously but this time I think I could've done better. My pace was so
slow on the official race, I started very well right behind Seby's
Yamaha but on the first chicane I lost all positions, there were few
parts of the track where I was slow, anyway thanks Seby for setup and
advices. Unfortunately for SFW he had some trouble and crashed at
Repsol corner on the first lap, Seby had the lead till the end of the
race and I was 4th after the first lap behind fabbsan and Vouks. My
goal for this race was to be on the podium and tried to push hard to
pass Vouks, we had some battle on the first part of the race and
finally I could overtake him and go away to follow fabbsan, then Vouks
did some mistake and crashed I think... fabbsan was very fast and
consistent but I could catch him, I wanted to stay behind him few laps
and attack at the end of the race, at 2 laps to go I could overtake him
and tried to go away but I made mistakes and lost 2nd place on the last
lap, touched the kerbs 2 times, lost more than half a second and
fabbsan did very good last lap so he got the 2nd place, well done m8.
Cya at Assen this weekend and have fun."
DanDam Team
Sask Ducati (7th, 16:13.104):
"It has been a funny race for me.
1 hour and half before my official race I decided to modify my setup in
order to improve my pace: I was sure i could do better than what i had
done before. So, setp by step i increased the grip on my rear tyre and
reached a pace that satisfied me.
It was a bad surprise when i realized that my setup didn't work well in
race, compared to the results i had achieved in the qualifying. So i
had to turn back to work hard on the gear ratio in order to find the
same feeling i had in qualifying. Eventually i did.
The race didn't disappoint me. My pace was quite close to Thunder's one
but i knew i didn't fight with him all the race long. Anyway i tried,
thinking that he could do some mistakes, but on the 3rd lap i did one
(... also because of lag): i rode wide in the 4th turn. Luckily it's
very difficult to fall with these physics and I got back to the track
soon Mircea, Dolz and Max overtook me but I didn't discourage. I knew
that with a consistent series of laps i could reach them, and i did.
But Mircea had a little better pace than mine and an amazing battle
started. It lasted 4-5 laps and lag didn't help us. I finished 4-5
tenths in front of Mircea.
So I wish to thank Mircea for the nice experience. It is always a
pleasure to ride with you. You beat me at Motegi (right?) and this time
i beat you.
P.S. Joseeeeee, where are you?!?!? It's time to ride, stop your
vacation.
Our team needs to score points. I'm doing all the work alone."
Vouks MVM
Racing Team (9th, 16:13.864):
"GG Fab for podium (more to come) and gg allso for your post. A bit
unlucky because Seby did not make any mistake to give you the win, but
i did and give him. Bravo also to Skid and OFF COURSE to Seby for 2nd
win in a row, very good race and train sessions there.
About MVM now Cata was first race were all 5 riders from team was
there, but only 4 of them were there for racing (GG too all and special
to MGR ) and 1 for holidays.
Thats all for now...
Last thing i will say is that many riders have fun out there even if
they have a super race even if they have a disaster, from my point of
view this is good."
GVG Yamaha
England-Netherlands (10th, 16:14.288):
"Wow, i ended in front of SFW. That's not going to happen often, i
guess! I finished 10th at 16 secs, and made one mistake where i lost
about 3 secs, so i'm very happy with this result. And I moved up to 8
in the standings!!
Congratulations to Seby for the win! And for fabbsan for first podium!
I'm looking forward to the next race, ofcourse my home grand prix!
After this one i'm quite positive and hope to go for my best result of
the season at my very own Assen!"
SFW Yamaha
England-Netherlands (11th, 16:14.308):
"Congratulations to Seby with the win...... another win, a very special
gg to Fabbsan finally deserved podium finish and Skider very strong
podium finish.
My race didn't go so well, I've done some practice and had a decent
race setup.
In the qualifying i rode with soft tyres for the first time and did a
good lap then at the start of the race I felt that my wheel has lost
the force feedback and it took some concentration away from my mind,
first 2 corners went good then as i was trying to adjust the riding i
was too concentrated on the brake point and forgot to take a good line
in to corner and lost the front. After the crash the force feedback
came back to life and could do some good laps but got a bit bored and
went 2 times in to gravel. By 3 laps to go Vouks crashed and came back
just in front of me so we had some fun together and on the finish line
we were side by side but in the results he was 0.5sec in front of me.
Too bad for the crash, it would be a interesting race for sure but was
over too soon. Good that I had some points advantage and now the battle
is open and alive again. GG GVG for beating me and enjoy it for few
more day until next race, me 2 will be riding home gp and plan to
strike back."
rezist Rezist
Racing Yamaha (20th, 16:26.895):
"Congratulations again to Seby! and a good points advantage over SFW to
reduce the championship margin... only 7 points difference now.
Well done Fabbsan for your first podium and Skider good job.
A bad result for me this time, but i guess it was due. lol
I had quite a good race again, i was about 2sec behind Snikolaus the
whole race and in the last 3 laps i was closing in on him, but then i
crashed on turn 4 on the last lap, i braked too late and couldn't make
the turn.
But i'm still very happy to be in the top 20.
This result is my fault because i didn't practice at all on this track,
only 1 session just before the race....so i plan to practice Assen a
lot more this week...so look out!"
Pity Source
Team (23rd, 16:40.216):
"Very hard race for me. In the first half of race, I fought with the
Kikepalmer. It was funny fight, but, more difficult, because this
tracks doesn't forgive any mistakes. After overtaking of Kikepalmer, I
tried to do not crash and finish the race on position 6th. After Holy
crash, I was 5 and I am happy with the race. During the race, I made
one mistake, when I was little long on brakes on the end of finish
line, but, not out of track and it was important. I like battle with
the Kikepalmer and with the XavieRRR, these guys are on the my level,
and it is good motivation fight with them. But, only pity, that some
guys have always skins of wild card Motogponline Yamaha, and they
didn't own skins of bike. I hope also that next race will be with the
12 riders like Qatar, with 9 riders is not so funny like with the 12. I
like more battles. What about next race in Assen, I like Assen, and I
hope, that I will enjoy the race and also good results. I am happy so
far with this season, I crashed only in Motegi, and that's all. But, I
need one point! The opportunity, where can I give the one point is my
home track Brno. But I will try to do my best in Assen and we will see.
Catalunya is not my favorite track. Thank you for hosting by Atman."
