  News 02/08/2009  Round 9. Germany : Sachsenring

Seby takes victory number four at Sachsenring to extend his lead in the standings to 17 points to SFW. SFW and Guishermo completed the podium.

Interviews:
Seby Lords Of Shadow (winner, 15:46.849):
"Congrats SFW and sexy team mate Guish.
I've always liked this track model of Sachs, i was quite fast from the first time we've used it in 2006, i was 2nd then. In 2007 i won and also had pole and hot lap. In 2008 i wasn't so fast but it was a wet race. This year i knew i had a very good chance to win and i was very fast right from the start of practice. This is one of the tracks i like the most, specially the very fast corner and then the downhill, the feeling there is unique, maybe the part i like the most from all the tracks. It has also bad parts, i don't like the first part of the track, the slow part. But i was fast in the second part of the track so i didn't worry about the lap times. The only problems i had here were on the brakes, i fell pretty often in practice. SFW did his race earlier and he went faster than what i hoped but i knew i could beat his times, i was doing low-med 18s almost all laps in practice and the total time was 5-6 seconds faster than SFW's total time. I knew i didn't have to risk too much, take it easy and just do my job and the victory was in the pocket. I also knew others weren't so fast so no real pressure on me from others. The only thing i was scared of was myself, because of those crashes on the brakes.
I finally took a pole position after many races, this time at a big distance from the rest. Tho again i had the same problem, i couldn't go much faster with softs than with soft-med. With soft-med i did 18.1 in practice and with soft-soft only 18.0. It seems i can't get over this problem, i'm still slow with softs. In the last few years i was usually 0.3-0.5 faster with softs than with soft-med but this year only 0.1-0.2 and on some tracks i'm even slower.
The race started and to my surprise i was very fast in the first 2 laps, 21.1 and 18.2. I had an advantage of over 1 second and after that i just took it easy, i didn't push hard, i just rode safe. The advantage to others increased lap by lap, i knew i was going for a good total even with a safe race. I was happy with my 15:46 total time, exactly what i was hoping from official, even if in practice i could do 15:44, no point to risk too much in official.
Compared to other victories this season, this felt really good. Other times i was lucky or just more consistent but this time i really felt faster than the rest and also the feeling while riding felt very good, very fast and consistent.
2 of my favorite tracks have passed, Laguna and Sachs, 2 wins in the pocket so i'm pretty happy.
Next is Donington, where i won in the last 2 years, in the dry and also in the wet. SFW already raced (he is in vacation) and did a very good job, much better than what i did in 2007 (same track, same physics). The result from this race will be very important for me and SFW, who will win here will have a good advantage. Either he will close the gap to me (also next tracks are hard for me), either i extend my lead even more and have a good moral for the next tracks where i will have some trouble. Time will tell, good luck to all."

Guishermo Lords Of Shadow (3rd, 15:51.391):
"GG to Seby for the win, SFW for the second and to everybody who raced!
My result is over my expectations before the race, so i'm quite happy... the practice didn't go well, my pace was 18 very high with quite 19s, and the worst of all, the feeling was shit, while i was doing a lap maybe i thought it was gonna be a good one and then it was a shit lap...
In the 15 minutes of practice before the race i changed the setup and tested it 2-3 laps... the feeling was ok but i didn't know if it would be a good idea to use it in the race with no practice... in the last moment i did it and the race started... the start was good but Seby took a few meters from me and then when i passed the last long corner of the 3 consecutive left.... SHOT, the piece of tarmac at the right side of the track didn't appear and it was my braking reference, after that i was certain i would crash in that corner in the race, so i was not very optimistic... Vouks overtook me and fabbsan was close, pity he had anticoll bug with me (although i didn't see him never in my screen)... Vouks took a little advantage and i thought my race with him was over... but i was able to improve my pace over my expectations and after he did a mistake in one corner i overtook him and finish in front of him. See you in Donny."

Snikolaus Lords Of Shadow II (9th, 16:05.610):
"What a race... first i could not even get started because of my connection problem, when i was already desperate.
Suddenly my connection up again and finally i could race. Thanks to Seby and rezist for their patience.
My race was not too bad as i could maintain 1:19 high to 1:20 low... but at 3/4 of the race, somehow i missed one lap! this made rezist seems to have passed me by 75s, i tried to keep focus but i think i slowed down a lap.
On my last extra lap suddenly i got out the screen and it made me crash. Luckily the last extra lap didn't count. As confirmed with Seby so thanks and good luck all for the next race."

rezist Rezist Racing Yamaha (12th, 16:10.620):
"Well done Seby, SFW and Guishermo.
My race was ok, but if i had more practice time i could have gone faster...i always know that when i get my fastest lap on the last lap!
And i had one bad lap of 1:21 with 3 laps to go, so if i didn't make the mistake i could have gained a position or two...but i'm happy because this is not one of my favorite tracks, so 12th is a good result for me.
See you all at Donington, wet or dry or whatever it is i'm ready!"

Pity Source Team (16th, 16:52.920):
"Hi, it was really hard race for me, I don't like Sachsenring, some corners are "on blind", I started very well, but, I was more safety in first corner and many riders overtook me. So I was last and I tried to my best, I had one out of track, but no crash and it was important. Finally, I was 16, and I am happy for another points to my championship. QP wasn't so good, as I wanted, because my record on the track is 1.21.5 and I did in QP only 1.22.2. So, I think, I did good job on this track, because, this track wasn't in Czech Team Championship and it was for me new track and the track is very difficult. Next race in Doningnton will be easy for me, because I have many knowledges from CTC and I like Donington, but, on the other hand, it will by my first experience to ride on wet, and I never race on wet yet. So I try to to another good race for my team, for my boss. I need improve my QP and my first laps. I hope, that wet race in Donington will be good, because I tried to test and it was funny to ride on wet, Bye."

XavieRRR Wildcard (17th, 16:55.113):
"This time I have not suffered any drop, but two laps from the end of the race, has cut the connection for a few seconds.
I have not fallen, but if I have been decentralized.
But I have to go past one quarter to go sixth.
I live in a third world country, it comes to Internet connections.
One rider has finished in front of me, Pity I think, he is better rider than me, actually. The other rider, Jorss666 I think, he has fallen.
See you again in Donington, good luck to all!"
