  News 13/09/2009  Round 12. U.S. : Indianapolis

Seby took his 7th victory of the season at the legendary Indianapolis circuit on Sunday. Skider and SFW had a fight like in the good old days, the last two champions finished on the podium.
Seby now leads by 36 points to SFW. Skider, Vouks and fabbsan complete the top5.

Interviews:
Seby Lords Of Shadow (winner, 16:36.988):
"Congratulations to Skider and SFW for podium finishes.
Also GG to GVG for 7th and to SkX for 10th.
Practice went pretty bad for me, i did few laps online during the week with Vouks and SFW and they were faster than me. I also did few laps with Skider and he wasn't as fast as he was in official. He was a good surprise in official, specially for beating SFW (same as at Laguna). I'll mail u 2 beers for this Skid. Vouks was very fast in practice but in official he couldn't do those laps. Similar for SFW, in practice he was faster than me. I was also a bit lucky i guess, on race day i changed the gears in my setup and i could improve my lap times, i could do 22.1 and few laps in 22.2, total time could have been around 16:33 or so. I found the perfect setup but in official i didn't manage to take full advantage of it. I was very surprised because i took the lead early and i could open a gap slowly. I thought i was going to fight in this race, i was ready to push hard to catch SFW (in practice he was very fast in the first 2 laps). But in official it was the other way around, i had around 1 second in front of Skider and i was also a bit stressed. I couldn't push too hard, i wanted in few laps (to get the hot lap) but it didn't happen, lap times were 22.4 - 22.6. Consistency made me win this race, even if the laps were 0.2-0.4 slower than what i could have done. On this track i did most of my fast laps when i was behind somebody and i was trying to catch up, maybe because there was nobody in front of me in official i couldn't go as fast as i wanted. Per total the victory was kind of easy, even if Skid and SFW were not far behind me. I didn't have to push too hard, no fighting, just waiting for the end of the race.
I can't say i'm satisfied with the pace i had, i always want to do my best, no matter of the result. So i have mixed feeling because on the other hand i'm happy i won the race and specially because SFW was 3rd so the title is closer and closer to me. I have to defend 36 points in 5 races. That means i can finish 2nd in 3 races and 3rd in 2 races and it's still mine. I can afford to fall in one of the races and still be kind of safe. This is good for the moral because now i don't have to worry and stress that much during the official races. I'll be able to take it easy when SFW will be faster than me so i won't risk anything and i'll also afford to push hard on the tracks i like and where i can be fast.
I also equaled my record of 5 wins in a row from 2007, maybe i'll aim to break Skider's record of 7 wins in a row from 2006, tho i know it won't be easy and i doubt i'll do it but it doesn't hurt to try. Now i have my lesson learned, if i didn't lose at Assen by 0.133s i could have had 8 wins in a row, but 7 out of 8 is also good.
The team standings is looking also good, over 100 points to 2nd team, constructors the same. I guess it is the best year so far for me and my team. Too bad i started the year so bad, besides that it was pretty good.
Now time to relax and have some fun, same hard work but without stress, sounds great."

fabbsan Motonline Racing Team (5th, 16:42.932):
"Hi all!
About my race, just simple words: bad pace and bad race! I wasn't in form one more time.
I'm really bored since Laguna Seca and I don't know why? I hope for good pace and more fun in the next races.
Anyway, GG to podium guys who are too fast for me.
See you in Misano!"

GVG Yamaha England-Netherlands (7th, 16:50.949):
"Yeah, this is the result i wanted, for the last races. Finally victory in A Class again.
I really needed it to stay in fight for that championship. I raced with a injured hand and my lap times were not as consistent as i wanted but this 7th place makes it all good.
My best result of the season so far and hopefully i can continue this till the end! GG to Seby for his victory (again) and a thank you for SFW for being a good team-mate! Hopefully you get to the top soon again, mate!"

rezist Rezist Racing Yamaha (12th, 17:13.007):
"It would have been a good race if i didn't crash.
But still, i'll take 12th (with a crash) any day! almost as good as Pedrosa hehe.
I was braking hard into turn 1, and i hit the bump, causing me to crash.
So maybe i could have finished tenth, but i am very happy with the result.
I have gained some points on Snikolaus and Dolz (?) which is also good.
Well done Seby, Skider and SFW, i would like to see the replay of that battle."

Pity Source Team (21st, 17:45.950):
"This is really a disappointment, to be one position behind points. The race was hard, because all riders were better then me, I did a good start, but in the first corner I was on grass like other guys, after that, I did same good laps, but on the end of the race I had a contact with the wall on the finish line. The contact was about 5 sec. miss. I passed Kike, but, without my mistake, I could finish on 20th position (one point). I have no points from both races in USA and it is a pity for my sponsorship. Only one positive thing is, that in qualification I was better then Xavier and Kike. I think, that the tracks in USA are very specific and maybe, I prefer to race in Europe. I hope, that I will move on 26th position in finally classification. Anyway, I am still leading in MotoGP academy class."
