News 27/09/2009  Round 13. San Marino : Misano

Seby took his 6th victory in a row and his 8th of the season at Misano. Skider put in a great display to lead most of the race but Seby has managed to pass him with 3 laps to go. Skider wanted to fight back and take a decisive pass in the last corner of the last lap but his kamikaze move ended in a crash after losing the front end. He managed to finish the race 5th.
Vouks was given a 2nd place finish while fabbsan completed the podium.
SFW also had a fall in the early laps and he finished 6th tonight.
Down made a good comeback to the championship by finishing 10th.
Kikepalmer is also welcomed to his first MotoGP point.

Interviews:
Seby Lords Of Shadow (winner, 16:01.944):
"Congratulations to Vouks and fabbsan for podium finishes.
Also big GG to Skider for his race, pity for that last corner crash.
Also welcome to points Kikepalmer and good return for Down, gg.
Practice went pretty decent for me. fabbsan and Vouks were very fast, specially fab. I had a good total time in practice (around 16:00) but in 1 lap fabbsan was faster so that ment he could beat me if he could gain consistency. We did the qualifying on Saturday and we were 3 riders in 26.6 and 1 rider on Sunday. This is by far a record, 4 riders in 0.035s which is good, seems the qual times are very tight now.
As for the official race, Skider started like a rocket, i guess he was lucky he didn't steal the start. After 2 corners i was hit by another rider and lost a bit, it threw me off the line and 2-3 riders got passed me. I could recover quickly, in 2-3 corners i was again 2nd, behind Skider who was half a second or more in front. Most of the laps i was trying to catch him and i did but not too fast, it was a slowly but surely recover. By the middle of the race i could finally catch him but i couldn't pass and keep the lead. First thing it came to my mind was to put pressure on him and try to force a mistake by him but then i realized he was Skider, 2 times world champion and he doesn't get stressed, he usually stresses others lol. And that's what happened, i was the stressed one but when i'm stressed i don't make mistakes so it was good, i knew i had to do my best and try to push hard without making mistakes. I could do that and we had a fight for few laps and with 3 laps to go i made my move and passed and also did the fastest lap of the race, that 26.7s. That allowed me to have a small advantage, 0.5 or so and i had to protect it in the last 2 laps. It was very hard and stressful but i could do it. I almost fell in the last lap on the right tight corner, 3 corners before the end. I was lucky i didn't and i could hear Skider's engine behind me, i knew he was very close and that he was going to try to pass me in the last corner so i had to do perfect lines in the last 2 corners of the last lap. The penultimate corner was good but i kind of braked late for the last corner but i could manage it and had a very good acceleration and went on to win the race. I could hear Skider crashing in the last corner and i was a bit sad, he would have deserved a podium finish this time, it was the race of the season for him. This was the hardest battle for me this season, maybe even the first time when i have to fight like that to win, usually the fight is only in the first 2 laps and then somebody escapes and wins but this time was great, good fight until the last corner of the last lap, very dramatic.
This victory is dedicated to my gay friend Skider for his effort in this race, to make it so much more interesting than usually, very good fight and race, gg m8 and sorry for your crash.
The title is almost in the bag and i can relax more during official races. I like all the 4 last tracks, maybe i wasn't so fast at Phillip Island in the past but i've always liked the design of the track. I also like Estoril very much and i'll aim to fight for the victory again, maybe i can equal Skider's record of 7 wins in a row from 2006.
Yamaha are already constructors champions, for the 3rd year in a row. Now time for team and rider standings.
Have fun in 2 weeks at Estoril."

Vouks MVM Racing Team (2nd, 16:04.073):
"GG to all who took part (hope will be many).
Congratulation Seby for another win!!!!!!!!!
Congratulation to Skider for trying a last corner pass (yes same as Ianoone), only Espagaro (Seby) was not there, so he crash alone after a very good race.
Congratulation to SFW for a very strong pace without train.
Congratulation to fabbsan for podium even if he was on grass at 1 point.
Guish was also there (room) but i don't remember what you did m8.
Down welcome BACK....
This is my post for Misano even before results are up and i did like this because some times a place in standings say nothing.
See you in Estoril!"

fabbsan Motonline Racing Team (3rd, 16:06.186):
"GG Seby for another unbelievable win, 6 in a row! GG Vouks for your second place and GG Skider really fast specially at start.
What can i say, thanks Skider to give me the last place on the podium, i'm really sorry for you, you deserved more than me the podium (or the win) in this race.
I'm bit disappointed here because i had a good pace on this track, but one time more i did a bad race. My 1st lap was too slow and in the 2nd one i went out of the track in the penultimate corner, Vouks, Guish and down overtook me and i thought it was finished for a podium. I could came back on down and Guish, during 3 laps i fought with Guish, my laptime were in mid 27 and i was afraid about hit with him. Finally i went away and my gap with Vouks was too high, near 3s. I improved my pace and rode in low 27 until the final lap, my gap with Vouks was 1.5s but i knew it was too late, i did a safety last lap to keep the 4th place but Skider made a fatal mistake.
A podium is always a good thing but i don't like the way i got it.
See you in Estoril!"

Guishermo Lords Of Shadow (4th, 16:09.818):
"GG to Seby, Vouks, Fabbsan and to all who raced... But specially to Skider, he fell in style... I haven't seen the replay but i suppose he was totally poisoned of hunger of win and he said "podium and champagne or hospital and gay nurses", great race anyway!
For me it was a really, really good result, i didn't expect it... you can think "what the hell is this guy saying, he's 8 seconds from the winner..." but considering that one hour before the race i hadn't updated the track with the kerbs and i was unable to ride under 28s, 4th position is an unexpected result.
The race started and i thought "great, one a-hole has a jumped start, there goes a position..." but it wasn't a jump start, Skider obviously had cheated the lights. After that almost everybody passed i was pushing like hell fighting with fabbsan... he had a much better pace than me and ruined his race because i disturbed him, but i just wanted him to make a mistake and take another position... finally Skider and SFW had crashed so i was 4th with a bad pace, i really struggled because i almost had no practice and my setup was shit, the worst of the season by far, the rear was spinning everywhere and the was no way to find grip with so less time of practice.
See you next race!"

Skider NoGrip Racing (5th, 16:12.435):
"Congratulations to Seby for another win, Vouks for 2nd place and fabbsan for 3rd. Good to see down back again and fighting against top riders, but this time on analogic controller, if you get some pace on gamepad and you'll be very fast.
I think I did good practice, I didn't make many changes on my setup, just wanted to get a good pace for the race, settings were in the good way so I felt good on this difficult track, I remember last year's race when I didn't enjoy racing like this time.
Saturday qualifying was very good, first time I tried softs and could get 2nd place very close to pole man Seby.
Before the race I had the feeling it was going to be a good race, like old good times, my strategy was to escape quickly because Seby is always fast at the beginning and he had the best pace on this track, so thought if he gets the lead would be very hard to catch him.
About the race...I surprised myself at the start because I think I did my best start ever LOL. I thought for a jump start but fortunately it wasn't. I was used to do bad starts and first lap but this time was the opposite. I had more than half a second lead on the first lap, but I knew Seby would catch me quickly, I tried to keep up my gap but I couldn't, at the middle of the race he was behind me and tried to pass me, I thought he was not doing his best because I slowed down the pace and he didn't overtake me. Then I touched the gravel just a little bit and Seby passed me but I could overtake him again, we were side by side until 3 laps to go when he got a little bit advantage, but I didn't want to give up and tried to stay close to him on the last lap, It was going to be my pb I guess cuz I recovered half a second untill the last hairpin, Seby still had a little bit gap and I didn't want to finish 2nd. I knew it was almost impossible to overtake him in 2 corners, I wanted to try it but unfortunately I braked too late and lost the front end on the last corner of the the last lap.
Anyway, I'm happy about my race, my best race this season so far. We had tight racing at the front like before and for me its the most important than the final results.
Cya at Estoril, hf!"

SFW Yamaha England-Netherlands (6th, 16:12.723):
"Congratulation to Seby with another win.
GG to Vouks and fabbsan with the podium finish........ and gg to Skider with cheating the start lol............ almost beating Seby..... crashing on the last corner...... and finally finishing just in front of me while in my screen you were behind me.
I did't have the best preparation for the race, I could manage to participate in one online practice session and then my plan was to do some practice on the race day but went away to Denmark for the weekend and came back just 15 min before the race. I used the qualifying to check my setup and made some changes for the race.
In the race I had a decent start and first lap was a bit messy but it seems like all the riders had problems in the first lap, I could catch a slipstream from Seby few times so it helped me to break away and pick up with Skider and Seby. I had to push hard to keep up with the front riders but I lost the front where i didn't expect it. My feet were very cold still shaking and when i felt the front sliding my feet didn't respond on time to prevent the crash.
After the crash I rode a lonely race and on last lap on the last corner Skider crashed and I was just able to finish in front of him but I guess the little lag was again in my disadvantage.
Next race Estoril isn't my favorite track and it will be hard to fight for the win."

rezist Rezist Racing Yamaha (16th, 16:31.190):
"Congratulations to Seby and Vouks and fabbsan.
I think i am lost without the setups from Seby lol, since he stopped uploading them i have not raced very good.
I didn't crash, didn't make any big mistakes (but a lot of moderate ones lol), i was just too slow, using a modified Laguna Seca setup...
Maybe next time lol..."

Pity Source Team (18th, 16:46.794):
"I am really happy with these results. I know that my QP wasn't the best, I am last rider on the grid, but, the important part of the weekend is the race, and in the Race I was fastest, than my competitors. You can also see on fastest lap, that I was 18th like in the race. In QP I didn't ride perfect lap. That's the reason of my position. In the race, I had a good fight with Kike, and after that, I was every lap better, than Kike, but anyway, I am also happy from Kike, that he took first point of the season, and now, his name you can see on Standings. I think, that he is good rider, but he needs more practice. I also fought with SkX but he was much better than me, but, he crashed 2x and it was a reason, why he fought with me and no with other guys like Atman, Holy or Blejz. So, it was Misano, but, I need to think about Estoril. I love Estoril very much, but last year in Czech Team Championship it was the worst race of the season for me, because in the first lap, in the first corner, I crashed into Holy and he crashed because of me. And I also did many mistakes during the last year, so I hope, that this year will be much better. I have also chance to take a title in MotoGP academy in Estoril (or not?). If I will Win the race in Class Academy, I can a celebrate. So it will be important race for me, but I am very pleasure. But on the other hand, this week, will start the next year (second year) of Czech Team Championship, and I am a match-maker (like a Director, but much better, hehe) of the Czech Championship, so it will be busy Sundays now, because, one Sunday (4.10.09) we have with the guys like Holy and Blejz the race in Qatar (opening race in CTC). The championship is also like this, the same tracks calendar, the same bikes, the same physics, only with Czech and Slovak riders. And for me it is very nice to race with the guys, because I have better chance to take a podium in the race, than here, because this is impossible to be in top 10 for me. This is Word Championship - the best riders of all the world of GP500. So, as I said, it will be busy weekend now, one Sanday, we have race in CTC, and other Sunday, we have race in WCH, so at the moment, we (me, Holy, Blejz) must practice in Qatar, because we want also successes in CTC. The only difference of the championships are: 25 riders (24 CZE, 1 rider from SVK), No possibility of bikes, the physics has a blue color of the tyres on the beginning session. But, the others things are the same. We have also web page of championship www.gp500.cz. So, i think, that this is good practice also for CTC also for WCH. So, i think, that for the moment is all, thank you very much for reading and once again, congratulation to Kike for his first points in WCH. We will see in Estoril, possible track, where can I take a title of Class C. Bye."

Kikepalmer Animersion Team Spain (20th, 16:57.704):
"Pity Thanks for your words of encouragement. I also am very happy for the point scored, and I thought I was going to end up with 0 points in the championship.
I hope that in Estoril continue fighting for a position in the race, I have a good time having someone around with whom to dispute."
