  News 11/10/2009  Round 14. Portugal : Estoril

SFW took his 5th victory of the season after beating Seby to the line. Seby still leads the standings, by 46 points. Vouks completed the podium, 5 seconds back.

Interviews:

Seby Lords Of Shadow (2nd, 16:21.389):
"You can try racing with JC, GVG and Mircea if you want, Holy.
Congratulations GVG for the rookie of the year.
Also Yamaha are champions for the 3rd year i a row with 13 wins out of 14 races.
GG to winner SFW for finally stepping up to be a man lol. Also very good by Vouks, pretty good season so far, consistency is the most important thing and so far it was good. Nice result by JC too, gg m8. And welcome Angel Nieto to our championship, first race and first points, gg.
I lost the race but what really upsets me is how i've lost it. The no-coll file didn't work well and SFW and I hit 2 times in the last lap and both times it affected me. First i jumped a little when we hit in the 2nd corner and lost 0.1 or so but i still fought back and managed to recover but at the back straight i was hit again and there i jumped up and a bit to the right and lost the racing line and braking point. But more worse is that i also lost concentration and made me very angry so i couldn't catch up in the last few corners of the last lap. Incidents like this happen but when it happens 2 times in the last lap while you fight for the victory is very bad for racing and it's not fair. I'm not saying i would have won the race, without the hits maybe i would have crashed in the next corner, we'll never know. But i want to win or lose on the track, not because of shit things like this. I've lost too many races because of something else so it's starting to be really annoying. And if i got hit in the first part of the race it wouldn't have been so bad, i would have had time to recover, but 2 times in the last lap, it's too much for anybody to handle. And second thing that bothers me is the fact that i was slow in this race, SFW was stronger. I couldn't go as fast as i did in practice, not even close. I could do low 28s in almost all laps and 16:17 in practice with pb of 28.2. But in official it was harder, maybe because there were more riders so my game didn't work the same as with 2 riders or alone where the game was smooth. This track is the heaviest from the calendar and for some riders it was very hard to do optimal lap times, too bad it happened to me too. I also made too many small mistakes, wrong racing lines, bad braking points, i had a 1.3s advantage after half of the race and i couldn't keep it, i touched the ripple once and SFW could catch me.
It was obvious i was going to lose some day, too bad it happened like this. I guess when somebody has to lose, no matter what happens, he loses. If he doesn't lose on track then even no-coll or lag or low fps appears so that guy will lose for sure.
Another weird thing, i usually lose on the tracks i really like. Estoril is one of the tracks i really like but i lost here 3 races out of 4. It seems i have more chances to win on tracks i don't like or even hate but i struggle on the tracks i like. I won at Laguna which is my favorite track from this calendar but besides that i lost on the tracks i like. And i've won on tracks like Brno, Mugello, Indianapolis or Misano, tracks i don't like. Tho if i won at Brno (the worst track ever for me), i guess anything is possible here.
Coming up is Phillip Island, another track i don't like (only 2 nice corners in the uphill and downhill at the end of the lap) but per total i never liked it and i never won here, few times very bad results and i also lost a title here in 2007. Last year was weird, i did 2nd at +1sec from the winner without any practice but besides that, only slow races and bad results.
We have the chance to see other titles decided, like class C title and team's title. Maybe even rider's title if SFW will crash.
Good luck to everybody!"

Vouks MVM Racing Team (3rd, 16:26.427):
"After long time a new-old winner so Congratulation SFW m8!!!!!!!! GG allso to Seby who with this 2nd place did a step closer to the Championship. JC did also a good race in 6th and together with fabbs 5th place they are 3rd in the team standings but this will change for sure... Mircea, GVG, Holy, Rez close to the top 10 so well done to all. Looks that there will be a fight for 7th in champ, 3 riders with same points nearly and at this time (from my view) is the only place to be open to fights. Of course we all need to finish all races and after we will know. Thats the beauty of racing. See you..."

fabbsan Motonline Racing Team (5th, 16:37.711):
"GG SFW, welcome back on the top. GG Seby who could won it and close from the title now and GG to Vouks for the last place on the podium.
A new bad race for me on a bad track which i hate, it made me crazy. My start was good, i was 1st until the back straight, then Seby overtook me and at the braking point i went on the right so i wouldn't have his slipstream during braking, but i went on the grass and crashed few meters later, it was a ridiculous mistake.
After my crash, i was furious but also bored because i rode alone on this bad track, i only wanted to finish my race and i didn't care about my final position. Then 5th place isn't so bad because i probably could have done it without the crash.
See you soon on Philip Island!"

GVG Yamaha England-Netherlands (8th, 16:45.228):
"This was a difficult race for me. I kinda like the Estoril circuit but had a hard time to get some decent and consistent lap times.
Of all circuits, Estoril is the track were i have the least experience. (it never worked properly on my old pc). However my official race was my best one, compared to all the bad practice races. I didn't crash once, only went into the gravel on the first lap. I had a very good start but pushed to much and braked to late. To bad. My qualifying lap, and hot lap, showed more potential.
I kinda expected this result. Unfortunately Mircea was also in front, so the title in A-class is slipping away. Think i have to get that out of my head. After my Indy win i saw some chances, and also in Misano i was the fastest, but my game froze with one lap to go. I had to re-race. It was late by then and i was totally disappointed. I let my lap times get influenced by that and so i didn't win there. If JC or Mircea miss a race (like i did when i had technical problems in Sachsenring) there is a chance of winning the title, but i don't expect them to!
Some positives:
I can official call me Rookie of the Year. Did some calculating. With 142 points i'm 105 points in front of second man Erol, with 37 points. Only 90 points up to grab, so that means i'm Rookie of the Year 2009! Not a bad title i guess! It was the first goal i had in mind when i started the season and i accomplished it. However the competition wasn't very hard.
And, SFW is on top again! Great win for you and the team. Nice job there mate!
See y'all next time!"

Holy Ducati Corse Team CZ (9th, 16:49.124):
"Finally in top ten. The less I practice the better the position is.
I noticed that the number of riders taking part in Estoril is quite small. The competition in my group is also less challenging...
Since JC moved to higher group, there is only one rider, my team mate Blejz, who is a threat for me. Bad he crashed last race, on the other hand I could watch TV instead of being focused on the race. I hope more riders will take part in next race!
GG to podium riders."

rezist Rezist Racing Yamaha (10th, 16:49.659):
"Well done SFW, back to the top step.
And also Seby and Vouks have barely put a foot wrong this year, nice job.
And congratulations GVG for Rookie of the Year.
I am lucky to just make it to 10th position (by 0.252sec) racing at 3am lol, so this is a great result for me!
It must be the setups hehe.
Bad luck Snikolaus, looks like you had faster lap times, but i was maybe more consistent... i think i did 3 laps under 1:31, and the rest were all low-1:31s.
Lucky i didn't do my race with you this time or i probably would be 11th, because i can't take the pressure very well lol, but it would have been a good battle for sure.
See you all next round at sunny Phillip Island... i hope... it's raining right now but i hope it is all gone before the weekend..."

Pity Source Team (16th, 17:18.913):
"This is my best position in the race, like in Sachsenring where I was 16th. So I am happy with the race, no mistakes, I like Estoril very much, after a bad race in last year's  Czech Championship, this race was very good. I almost finished on 15th position, but, Blejz was better last lap.
Anyway, I took many points in Class C, so now, I can focus on the last three races. Now we will arrive to Australia. I think, it will be good race, but I need a good setup, for this technical track. After Australia, we have second race in CTC 2009/2010 in Motegi, so you can see, that me, Holy and Blejz are busy now. First race of year in CTC 09/10 was good."
