News 04/04/2009  IRTA Test : Losail

Seby came on top in the first official battle of the 2010 season at the IRTA Test in Losail. fabbsan was 2nd, 0.120s behind. SFW completed the top 3, at +0.285s.

Interviews:

Seby Lords Of Shadow (1st, 1:45.714):
"GG to fabbsan for 2nd, also welcome back to SFW and gg for 3rd. Also nice to see Luke and Skider there too. Also a big gg to GVG for being so close to the best time.
I did my first laps on Saturday and i did 45.8 but i didn't know what others were doing. Sunday i didn't practice, i was watching football while others did the test lol. Did few warm up laps before i started my 2 official sessions with fabbsan. In the first session i pushed really hard but with 12 riders in the room it was a bit laggy and no matter how hard i pushed, the lap times were slower, low 46s. For the second session we were less riders and it was less lag, the lap times were much better. I knew from the first session fab was fast but i was sure i could do better than his 45.8. The thing is that until now, 6 years and 7 irta tests, nobody who won the irta test could win the title and the same as last year, in a way i didn't want to win it. But i wanted to be close up there so i wouldn't lose too much time for the qualifying award. I did a pretty decent lap in the 2nd lap and i didn't know how fast it was and as it turned out, it was too fast, 45.7. I said damn in my mind, with that time i was gonna get the first position and i didn't want that. Later i saw that fab didn't beat that lap time so i thought that since i'm already first, at least i can push harder. In pushed and was -0.200 at one point but lost some time at the end of the lap and could only improve by 0.050. There were 2 laps in 45.7 in that session but one of them could have been 45.5 so i'm pretty happy with my pace. Now it's time to take my prize bmw for a spin."

SFW NoGrip Racing Legends (3rd, 1:45.999):
"Congratulation to our world champion Seby with the fastest lap time.
I'm happy with my performance, first session i did a solid few laps and 2nd session my first flying lap was a 1:45.999 then couldn't do a lap without mistakes anymore.
GVG looking very strong and I'm sure he will get faster and faster.
Lords Of Shadow team looking very strong and they will be hard to beat."

DanDam Team Sask Suzuki (7th, 1:46.928):
"I was surprised of my lap time too!!! It's closer to the top riders ones than i expected on a such long track.
I improved my lap time by 1 second in the two official sessions changing a couple of parameters of my suspensions.
So i think that as soon as everybody learns how to set up its own bike, all the gaps return back to the old values."

SPIDEY Team Sask Suzuki (11th, 1:48.203):
"GG GVG, DanDam and PK-PK i guess (i see slight loss in performance lol).
As far as mine goes, i set my pb, but i know there is more to come. I set that with hardly 15 laps in total, despite using a different resolution via my laptop hitched up to my big screen. So i found it hard at first, but then got used to it in my second session.
So bring on 2010, im looking for a good points haul, at least more than i did last year."

rezist Rezist Racing (12th, 1:49.292):
"I can explain my poor showing lol... the official session was my first laps on the track with the new physics, so i was still learning.
We did one more session after and i got 1:48.7 and 3 more 48 laps, so still improving but that lap time didn't count.
I hope to be in the 47s for the race."

Atman Asica Racing Team (14th, 1:50.869):
"Only surprise now for me relatively bad results for rezist, Mari, but it will be sure better next time...
GVG with pedal +0.9 not bad, we'll also see next time."

Statistics:
Seby has taken a 0.120 advantage over the nearest rival in the Qualifying Award.
18 more rounds until we will know the winner of the Qualifying Award and it seems the battle will most likely be between Seby, fabbsan and SFW.

Join us in 2 weeks time for the first race of the season at Losail, Qatar.
