Round 1. Qatar
: Losail
SFW wins the first race of the
season at Losail after a great display under the lights. Vouks and Seby
completed the podium, Skider was 4th and fabbsan 5th.
Interviews:
SFW NoGrip Racing Legends (winner,
15:57.145):
"Finally the season has started and a great result for me and the team.
GG to Vouks with very strong performance and Seby despite 2 times bad
luck still great effort and podium finish.
Good ride there from Skider, beating fabbsan and finishing 4th and
taking some good points for the team.
First points for rookies Franky, Mari and Arch.
Atman taking the last piont like in 2007..... other years just outside
the points.
I had a difficult pre-season. In December last year I injured my right
shoulder a bit and needed some rest to let the time heal the
wounds......but instead I was racing WSS every few days so my shoulder
didn't get any better but worse, last few races were very difficult and
after WSS I really had to take care of my shoulder and that meant no
GP500 at all. I missed all the pre-season testing and physics
development. At the IRTA test I was able to do some laps and last week
I finally could do some real practice and play with different setup
settings to understand the physics better.
I did some online practice sessions and to my surprise I was much
faster than Seby and Vouks so for sure my confidence was high and
couldn't wait for the official race.
The official race came and first in the qualifying I started a bit slow
and in my fast laps I made some little mistakes and on my what could
have been pole lap I touched the gravel on main straight.
The official race started and after first 2 corners mayhem, it was
Vouks who took off like a maniac and I was side by side with Seby.....
I was worried about possible no-coll hit and tried to ride different
lines but still Seby got hit hard and went off track. I caught up with
Vouks pretty fast and tried to force my way through but made some
mistakes and had to close the gap again. It was a good battle with
Vouks but it also meant that the lap times were slower. i knew that
Seby would race again and I couldn't lose too much time so after I
passed Vouks I put my head down and did some good lap times to make a
gap and secure the win.
This is a very good start for me and the team but looking at last year
i know that things can change very easily and the season is long."
Vouks Greece
Racing Team (2nd, 15:59.694):
"30 Riders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super....... ok more work for Seby but
it's good for the championship, so i am sure he is happy too.
Congratulation Capirex (SFW).
Seby GG for 3rd even if you don't like m8, the only i can say is that
we all know that LUCK is part of the game. See Rossi m8, small
motocross accident and small injury and the race at Motegi was
canceled, if that is not luck.... Next i will say a warm welcome to all
the rookies and a hot welcome back to Mgr with an easy 7th place (more
to come i am sure) and to sk18 with a super result GG m8. Dandam did
also a good race, gg m8.
Next race Japan and to be sure that we are there in right time because
off this volcano shit, the greeks who race in this champ will take a
old DSV and drive to Japan.
Big thx to all who work for this champ."
Seby Lords Of
Shadow (3rd, 16:00.750):
"Congrats SFW for another great race, also to Vouks for 2nd. The
classes aren't made yet but more than sure DanDam took the victory in
class A so gg, also to sk18 for that nice result.
Practice went like crap for me. My old wheel died right after the irta
test so i had to use a new one (same model). I couldn't match the lap
times by SFW and Vouks in practice. So on sunday i had a look at my old
wheel, the cable was interrupted in a place so i had to patch every
small cable (4 small cables inside the big one) and then it worked. So
i used the old pedals for the race, it was better, not by much but it
was something. I could do 45.5 - 45.6 hot lap and consistent in 45.6 -
45.7 by then. Official started and i had a nice fight with SFW for few
corners but at half distance in the first lap i got kicked by him
because the no-coll file didn't work. I guess he knew he couldn't win
without the help from the no-coll file hahahahha joking m8 (tho
remember estoril? lol). From the last 5 mgp races, 2 were lost because
of the no-coll file. If i could have saved the bike from going to
gravel i would have continued but with 5 sec lost there, no point to
continue. In the rematch we were more ppl in the room and also riders
with bad pc or slow connections and there was a bit of lag, more like
low fps and the lap times were much slower than normal. I did a pretty
decent race but with lap times 0.3 slower... i had no chance. I don't
think i could have won this race but i'm sure i could have been under a
second from SFW's total time and also a much better hot lap
(45.5-45.6). So i had bad luck 2 times in this race, once i had the
collision and the other low fps in the 2nd race, i guess it was meant
to be this way and to lose it 100%. I'm more upset because i lost 4
points for nothing, without making any mistakes and even if 4 points is
not much, crap like this can decide things later in the season. Like i
said last year, who has to win, wins it, no matter how, something
always happens so things can go in a certain direction. Weird that only
in gp500 i've experienced divine intervention LOOL. Well for me it's
never been fair in gp500 so why should i complain now? lol fukitol pill
(google it) and see ya in 2 weeks at Motegi, maybe for some revenge (if
it will depend on me because i have big doubts now with this crap).
At least it was a funny part, SFW was trying to put pressure on me in
the 2nd race and hit me again, it was small but still wtf lol. Right
after that i gave him a big look back in the middle of a corner and i
guess he understood the message (it wasn't nice hahahah). Then he
decided it was all to much and went for a picnic in the grass."
fabbsan Lords
Of Shadow (5th, 16:03.525):
"GG to SFW for the victory, you were very strong here.
Also GG to podium guys, Vouks, fast too here m8, and to Seby for his
3rd place and all the great job he does for this wonderful championship.
Some guys did strong race here too: GG to Mgr, Dandam and Holy.
Also GG to all of the riders who take part in this race.
About my race, i just can be happy about my 5th place considering the
few practice i've done, i was too busy last time to practice more and
hope for a better place.
My start wasn't so bad, in 1st lap, i fought with Mgr and Luke who was
lagging a lot, i tried to concentrate and went away from them in
the 2nd lap. I was 3rd with 0.5s in front of Skider, i knew i wasn't
consistent enough on this track but i thought i could keep this 3rd
place, i could keep the same gap but in the 3rd lap, my screen froze
during 0.1s and i went wide in a corner, Skider was on my back now and
overtook me, we fought and in the 4th lap he hit me and i lost contact
with him, so damn.
Then i tried to come back on him and i did it in the last lap, but my
screen froze again WTF and i went into the grass in the exit of a
corner, i didn't crash so i could cross the finish line.
I'm sure disappointed cos my lap times were similar to Skider's and i
think i could have done a better result without these craps of frozen
screen. Anyway i was lucky to do my race cos i lost internet connection
at the end of it and couldn't join the 2nd race with Seby.
I'll try to fix my computer and my internet connection for the next
race cos all of this shit makes me furious and i'm always afraid to
lose connection during official
See you for dunno which race yet!"
Mgr Greece
Racing Team (7th, 16:05.014):
"HI TO ALL!!!!!
I wish good results and a good championship to all riders.
Very difficult championship this year because there are many top
riders!!!!!
My race was good, it's a bad track for me so i am happy for 7th place
and hope next races will be even better!!!!!
See you at MOTEGI!!!!!!"
DanDam Team
Sask Suzuki (8th, 16:14.920):
"My race was quite good. I modified my setup 1 hour before the official
race, because I had noticed that I was much slower in race if compared
to my laptimes in qualifying. I decided to make my bike less safe but a
bit faster and I did a couple of races in order to find the new
references. I was capable to lap in 1.47.5 again and I thought it was
enough. I was not sure about what was the right option for my rear
tyre. I decided to go on s-s configuration because, even though my rear
tyre became red at 3 laps to go, the bike remained rideable and lap
times didn't increased too much in the last laps.
The start in the official race was good (I was on pole-position) but
suddenly 3 riders overtook me. I kept myself calm and I rode carefully,
trying to not think about the bikes that crossed mine. At the end of
the first lap I was ahead again but Holy was very close to me too.
Lap by lap I tried to increase the gap between us thanks also to the
fight between Holy and another rider (I guess). In the middle of the
race the gap was around 2,8 seconds and it remained the same for a
couple of laps, when my rear tyre was already reddish. Then I realized
he had chosen a s-m configuration. In fact the gap started to decrease
up to 0.8 seconds when the race finished.
Holy put me under a big pressure for all the race long but he also made
my race much funnier!!!"
Holy Ducati
Corse Team (9th, 16:15.794):
"It was really wonderful race.
I was able to do fast laps the whole race, I managed to make no
mistakes. It felt really good, to be at second position... Mircea put a
lot pressure on me. He was on my back the whole race. Two laps before
the finish he made mistakes and the gap between us was like 2.5s. I had
DanDam in front of me, but I was satisfied with my performance. I
didn't want to screw it, so I slowed down a little bit and still, I was
able to decrease the gap. The only thing that troubles me, is the gap
between me and top riders. 2s is really much! New physics were supposed
to decrease the gap, but I think it will be otherwise. We will see."
Franky F1Race
Sports (13th, 16:32.836):
"Hi all! I just viewed the replay... good races, and perfect race for
SFW, Vouks and DanDam, congrats to all.
My objetive for this race, my goal in the official debut in WCH was not
to crash and to ride safe, but i couldn't manage that so i'm not happy
because i crashed with two laps to go.
In my opinion i had two errors, first at the begining, i was riding too
safe so i lost the first group. Finally i've decided to catch them and
get good rhythm, in a beautiful battle with Snikolaus, but at the end i
lost the concentration and i had a little-big mistake at the end of the
straight.
Considering i crashed, it's a surprise for me to take any points but
it's good news for me for the classification of the rookies.
Thanks to Kike for giving me a bike in his team, to DanDam for helping
me with some questions and Seby for all his job .
See you in motegi, i suppose we don't cancel the race like real MotoGP."
rezist Rezist
Racing (15th, 16:37.035):
"Well, i have lost 3 positions because i crashed on the penultimate
lap... and a bad crash too, i think it cost more than 12 seconds and i
restarted in the gravel...
But i had a good reason, i had the blood circulation to my right hand
cut off, and near the end of the race i couldn't feel anything lol and
there was no place where i could rest my hand and get the circulation
back lol.
But that's my fault for sitting in a bad position for the race hehe.
I'm happy with 15th, at least it's better than last year lol."
SPIDEY Team
Sask Suzuki (18th, 16:46.469):
"GG Dan, Holy, Mircea and the usual guys in the top 15. GG SFW for
victory, and also a GG to PK-PK, not last, i can't believe it. As for
my race i'm very disappointed. I was determined to race with my new pc,
but i have to fix it. So i had no motivation to race with my laptop,
but i had to again. I race with a very low resolution, because of the
screen spanning out of view in other settings. So my display is very
blur on my big screen. Anyways, i was a whole sec off my test pace
which surprised me, and i really did suck. I thought i'd never crash
this season, and the very first turn ended with a crash. GRRRR so much
for that. Anyways, after that i had a poor race, i was last, and as i
caught other riders i ran wide. So i was last again, and then caught
them again. So it was very disappointing, but I ended in the points so
our team is looking good.
Maybe it's going to be a battle with the Team CZ riders and my team.
Holy with DanDam, Blejz and me. I noticed Blejz had his moment (he was
5 secs ahead). I was able to close the gap, but consistent mistakes
ended up with the gap increasing back to 5 secs. Oh well, my aim is to
not crash. When i do that hopefully i can challenge my old friends Holy
and Blejz."
Pity Source
Team (21st, 16:52.298):
"This is really dissapointment! To be one position behind the points!!!
On sunday, we had bad luck, because we had 2 races.
The first race was nice, I didn't make mistakes like other riders and I
was 2nd in the middle of the race, but, after that, we saw red flag
because of technical problems of connection, and it was end of the race
for us. So we had to start once again, and in the second race, I had
also good start, I was 4th, but on the beginning another lap, I was
long on the brakes, and I lost a 5 seconds. I was on 7th position, and
I want to fight with the other riders about better position. I fought
with the riders and I finished in 4th position in the race. But now, I
am 21st and this is disappointment. Because if you are in 2nd position
in the race and you have to stop because of connection, that's bad
luck. My competitor Mari has points and I have a big 0 ! Like always!
Really bad luck, I could finish in top20. All Czech riders take points,
but me not! Again! Like always! After end of season in CTC, WCH will be
much better for me.
But anyway, I am happy with my performance in Qatar. No more testing
like other guys, and nice results, unfortunately for me, no points,
thats all."
Serch Malboro
Ducati (27th, 17:22.147):
"I think i was about as much upset as Seby, first i got d/c at the end
of qualification with 1 minute left in qualifying in the race i got
disconnected again in the middle of first lap when i was doing pretty
well.
Thankfully the race at 23 was at least without technical problems, i've
crashed once or twice and that took major time out. Lapping around
52s-54s is still a huge gap compared to the fastest guys, i wonder how
the hell are you guys doing it lol, especially rezist who plays with
keyboard with auto leaning from what i remember.
Anyways i'm still happy i'm not dead last."
