  News 27/06/2010  Round 6 : Silverstone

LuKe took his first ever MotoGP victory tonight at Silverstone after he sped away at the front leaving his rivals far behind to fight it out for the 2nd position. Vouks came again in 2nd and increased his standings lead to 10 points to Seby who was 3rd tonight.

Interviews:

LuKe Greece Racing Team (winner, 17:22.283):
"Thank you Guys.
I'm so unbelievably happy about that result, i think i cant realize it full till now.
At the beginning of the practice, it was fun to ride there and we had some very good fights (especially MGR, Vouks, Seby and me - the other fast riders don't prac much with us).
Before the Race i thought like Seby said, be cool and not to be hard nervous. My qual was not very good, i did some mistakes and thought not the best for the race. But than in official it was the most important not to do mistakes and not to loose the speed from the other guys especially in the beginning. After i caught SFW i went in front and was full concentrated - i think the key for that win, was to be fast in the first laps. After i saw that i build a gap between me and Vouks i slowed down a bit in the end, and rode save.
Congratulation to Vouks and Seby (.i.) too, both very fast but maybe a bit bad luck because of mistakes.
See ya all at Assen."

Vouks Greece Racing Team (2nd, 17:24.182):
"Greece 1st and 2nd and i see a 1-2-3 coming and that make us all very happy in the team. Luke Congratulations m8 and go on like this, Mgr also GG even if from my side 4th here for you is not good (and of course 2nd for me toooo gooood lololol). Seby gg for recovery after some mistakes and still make the podium. Maaaaaaaaaax again 8th GG m8. Our room in 2010 is super because 8 riders are almost same fast (if they train of course) and that make us fight hard for a good result, hope will be same till the end. Arch and Wolf doing ok for Greece Academy and we wait Sk and Tolis be back in next races.
See you all in Assen."

Seby Lords Of Shadow (3rd, 17:24.285):
"Big congratulations LuKe for your first ever victory in MGP. Told ya the victory can be yours if you can stay calm, concentrate and think of the race as a practice one. GG m8, enjoy it (while you can). Also GG to Vouks for 2nd and for leading the standings by 10 points, you got 8 points from 0.1s in this race, 2 more corners and it would have been 2 points between us in the standings so gg and enjoy it. Also gg to Mgr for 4th, very consistent there close to the podium, maybe it will come soon, like Hayden.
Practice was pretty crap before i reunited forces with LuKe and we shared information and advices so we can both do good results. Before official i guess we were the fastest on track. I could ride fast and consistent on race day, doing 34.1-34.2 almost all laps with a personal best of 33.8 (which was beaten in the 4th room while following fab, 33.7). I was sure i could beat LuKe, i had a good strategy but in the official races anything can happen and this time (again) it didn't went my way. I knew Luke was very fast at the start of the race so i just had to follow him in the first half, not let him too far ahead and that's what i did, i was around 0.6 or so behind him. When i was about to start pushing hard to catch up and fight i touched the grass in the first corner and lost around 2 seconds. Then it was hard to concentrate, the mistake made me lose the edge and i couldn't go fast anymore, couldn't push hard. It took me few laps to get my head around the situation and before i started to push hard again there was no time left to get a good result. I could catch the 3 riders in front of me, passed 2 of them but i didn't have time to catch Vouks, i was around 1 second with 2 laps to go and maybe i had a chance but i made few mistakes in the penultimate lap so when we entered the last lap i knew i had no chance to catch him, i wanted to take it easy but then i looked back and Mgr was right on my tail so i pushed as hard as i could to keep my podium finish and by doing so i also caught Vouks but not enough to make a pass, only 0.1 behind him at the finish line. If it wasn't for the mistakes from the penultimate lap i think i could have gotten the 2nd place and the difference in the standings would have been much more in my favor, only 2 points instead of 10 like now. Well this was a bad weekend for me and the team, also with fab crashing. I'm upset because it's the 4th race in a row when i have the pace to win but i make mistakes. Maybe it will turn around in the next races and i will recover all the points lost (too many so far). See ya at Assen."

fabbsan Lords Of Shadow (6th, 17:33.419):
"Big GG to Luke, i know what you feel after 1st win.
GG of course to Vouks "alzamora gay" is he going to be world champion?
And sure GG to Seby for the last place on the podium.
About my crap race......... was full of crap, i never found the consistency here, i was 5th on the first lap, could came in 2nd after some laps but i was enable to ride better, Vouks overtook me, i went wide on a corner, SFW and Mgr overtook me and i was hit by Mgr and crashed, so damn. In my re-race, i crashed alone after my game bug, was more crap.
Anyway 6th isn't so bad with a crash in race.
See you all in Assen."

DanDam Team Sask Suzuki (7th, 17:37.620):
"It's a pity because our team needs to score points. It would be nice to finish the championship in front of "Lord of Shadow II" team.
This round i had not time to practice like I did the past races because i have been busy with my work. Anyway i was confident in a good pace on this track, because the pre-season test had gone well and Silverstone track, such as Mugello and Brno ones, are as wide as i like.
The setup i had done during the pre-season test did not suit well to the new physics, but a good soul gave me a very good one that made me ride in low 35's.
In my official race i rode in high 35's because i wanted to avoid any risk, since the curbs were very slippery and some of them hid some bugs.
I managed to keep me in front of one of my direct rivals, MAX, who shared my own race and tried to recover a gap of 3-5 tenths throughout the race. He did not.
So, my race was quite funny and I look forward the final result.
Cheers"

Guishermo Lords Of Shadow (9th, 17:43.108):
"Big GG to Luke for first victory... Good day for Germany, win in the World Cup and win in Motogp500online, the most important competitions in the world. GG also to Vouks and Seby for the podium.
I arrived to the race with 30 laps of practice because of a week full of exams, so i wasn't expecting too much from the race... I only wanted to make no mistakes but it wasn't possible, i crashed to the wall of the last corner. After that the race was boring and the only surprise was to see Skider crashing and re-crashing when he was joining the track from the grass (well, this year it isn't a surprise at all, we are Spain´s big shame).
The only positive thing was that i was able to do a 1´34´2 with so little practice, so at least i can think that maybe i could have been competitive with more track time... although its very sad the fact that this is the positive thing of the weekend."

rezist Rezist Racing (11th, 17:50.818):
"Luke!!! well done m8, and Vouks to make it Greece Racing 1-2.
And Seby jumps to 2nd in the championship.
I can't believe Vouks is leading! with no wins, very consistent so far 6 out of 6 podiums, good stuff.
I could have predicted an unpredictable result at this track lol, its very hard to stay on the limit here with the bumps and the wide corner exits, and some narrower, its difficult to judge where to brake etc....
As for me, i'm very happy with 11th (from 17th on the 'grid') since I did maybe 5 laps practice before the race.
I was lucky that i could follow Mircea for the whole race, it helped to improve my lap times by nearly 1 second lol, so thanks Mircea."

Rider25 Ducati Corse Team (17th, 18:05.623):
"Hi I would like first to congratulate Luke extracts.
In the race I started well but a couple of faster riders overtook me mare which I expected because I'm a newbie but the first few rounds I went with Holly with whom I had some good fights but it was faster and drove me then he pushed me Arch is also overtook me but after a few laps I rode him a bit and when I was faced with ubìlal I made a mistake, hit a curb to come when I saw the crash around me ride Mari and I hoped that even the pres fall ride, I caught the pace and started to download Mari. Each round, I recall some time but unfortunately it was a few rounds and the very end of the race, I was clearing the even I attacked him, but rode well and finished before me."

Pity Source Team (18th, 18:15.230):
"Nice results again, i didn't practice so much like other guys, so I expected bad result, but, after QP, when I was in the first row in my group, i had a chance to do a good result. So, I started from first pole, and I was leading the race, also I was fighting with the one guy, and finally, i finish the race on the first position like in France and in Mugello. So, I like, when I can finish the race on the first position in my group at 20:00. So, it was nice hat trick."
